Does anyone have any experience and recommendations for Internet TV software? This would be software that allows you to watch TV on your PC via a broadband connection. I am not talking about a slingbox type product. This will allow you to watch TV on the road through your PC via a WiFi connection or an "air card" broadband internet connection. There are a few out there. They seem to want $50 for unlimited access forever. Sounds like a good idea if it works and they don't go away next week.

Any input from experienced users is appreciated.

Well my laptop (dv9500t cto) can act as a tv with the HP express tv tuner card (both analog and HD) and you can watch tv based on whatever reception you can get (varies based on what signal you can pick up). I know there are other tv tuner cards but I havent really seen any broadband tv cards/sites other than say Netflix (which isnt the same thing as what you are looking for). So if you want to get an air card you can pull tv signals out of the air just like the tv sets of days gone by (good old rabbit ears type receiver). This may work fine depending on how the signal strength is, or it may suck and you may not get any signal at all depending on where you are. Otherwise the best option I've seen is netflix or slingbox.

BTW I have netflix and I've been streaming old tv shows on the lappy for fun and to see how good it works. I'm actually surprised at the quality of the image considering its being streamed. Its funny to watch some of the old shows like Buck Rogers lol. Netflix keeps adding more and more titles to their watch now list so this may be a good option if you don't want to see this week's survivor episode.

The netflix type is what I am talking about. The local shows via an antenna don't interest me. There are sites that supposedly have regular cable/satelite type programming, but it comes over broadband instead of cable. That's what I'm looking for. Someone who has experience and advise on that.

    Thanks for your reply.

I know from experience that Verizon will throttle back your bandwidth to a point that renders it useless to stream...... as far as the tv over internet sites...... take a look # their available programming guides.....of the 3000+ tv channels they promise.....96% are 3rd world.....2% are news channels.....and the other 2% are a mixture of homegrown channels..... CRAP! I do have the slingbox....and if you are in an area where the signal is good enough, it is watchable.....but....unless you drive in MAJOR metropolatin areas.....don't bother. We're gonna get one of those flat satellite dishes like you see on RV's ...... Well....you can't really see them....they mount flat to the roof....always tracking....always on.....hook up momma's dvr....she'll never have to go home again to catch up on 'Smallville'...LOL And combine that with the 32" flat screen......TV Nirvana.

How you gonna fit a 32" flat screen into a truck? You going to mount it on the back wall?

With our current truck.....we're gonna mount it to a shelf at the end of the bunk.....It's kind of like a box....with one side of the shelf being under the matress. The base is 18"....sides go down from 18" to 10" across the top board that acts as the shelf....there is room under the shelf for storage/feet if you're taller.

When we get the KW.....we are going to have metal mounts made and suspend the TV from the ceiling right behind the seats....it will raise up out of the way and lower down for watching.....which will be awesome in the 86" Studio.....watching from the couch......popcorn in hand....feet up!!! Loving Life!

You'd be better off getting one of those VIZIO's from Wal-Mart.....for around $800.00....I'd hate to beat a $2000.00 unit up in the truck. Yes, I do make my own shelves.
