Get yourself some Melatonin from the vitamin section. It's a natural sleep aid. I don't take it every night, only on those nights or days when I'm not sleepy but have to get some sleep. I usually get close to 8 hrs.

    TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

You will fall asleep after 11 hours of driving. My mind used to race too and I would stay up all night when I was young with dreams of being a millionaire.

Try meditation. Works great for relaxing. Or maybe some simple yoga poses. Or just deep breathing exercises. If you are wound up so you can't sleep, you need to relax. No one can fall asleep when they are tighter than a spring

For me, reading does the trick. A real book though, not your Ipad.

I have found that after driving for 10-11 hours and a full 14 hour day I sleep just fine. It has always been hard to fall asleep for me but nothing works better than a full days work. Sleep 5-8 hours.

I agree. If you are going to have a sleep aid, then all natural is the answer, but you can get too much of it which is not good. I prefer meditation.

Is there a time of day that you find exhausting? I feel so drained in the afternoons. From about 2pm until 5 or 6pm.... I feel like my entire body is full of sand. Afternoons are my kryptonite. I sleep better then than I do any other time of day. I don't know whether it's due to the slant of the sun's rays or some weird mental thing with me.

I'm not a driver yet (I just got my CDL), but I'm hoping I can arrange my driving schedule (as much as possible) so that I don't have to drive in the late afternoon.

I only have trouble sleeping when I'm at home.
I sleep much better in the Truck.
