Schneider Oil Field Truck Driver Jobs/ The Texas shales and beyond

Pinnergy had a large ad in one of the Gonzales newspapers, there are two of them [newspapers] in Gonzales and one is good for driver jobs and the other is not

Key always has copious listings which state Trans/Vac Truck Driver Trucking & Fluid Management Services but those all say

and if you try to chase down all the "no experience" stuff you end up like the discussion I had with D_Havens in a Thread I started, I had to start pm 'nig the person and work it back down ..... it is insurance companies that are doing it, I had an interviewer with operations manager at a yard that I had an inside proofing confirmation avenue - very clean yard with plenty trucks all in good shape - one to three years DOT regulated does not equal posting job-wanted signs that state no-experience ....

No bueno! Wish all that were unfortunate enough to be layed off the best of luck. It's hard enough to support a family in this economy, it's even harder without the jobs which we all depend on.

 

When I came here 7 months ago West Texas was more willing to hire newbies than other areas. Not sure how many companies are hiring right now. The vac truck drivers in my yard have been a little slow the last two weeks. They're still working, but a couple drivers have had to go home early on occasion. I believe this is just another minor slow down like the one we had back in June. I'm glad to be in a kill truck because the pulling units I work with never seem to stop. Wells need to be maintained, so as long as they're working so am I. That's why I suggested well service companies like Nabors, Basic, or Key. They seem to be more stable than companies that only service drilling rigs.

 

i know what you mean. I brought my wife and son with me while I job hunted. It just seemed easier to bring them and all our stuff at the same time. In hind sight I probably spent more money that way, but it worked out in the end. If I were to do it again I would probably come solo, then send for them when I found a job. The standard caveat still applies : this is an oil boom which means there will eventually be a bust. So far it has definitely paid off for me. We have no regrets about the move and will ride the wave until we get thrown off. Either way it still beats trying to make a living in Floridas crappy economy.

 

several majors have sold out on other fields to move to dedicated operations at EFS

so it is definitely worth the effort but for most - as I have been discussing with wowo6057 - extensive prior effort has to be conducted ~ for those who have 1-3 years DOT regulated + T.W.I.C. & hazmat it only need be to have the reserves to drive around an look for a job then have to go back and do all the "....did you apply online?..." = I busted it with Petey Lozano as I figured I did not have the resources to make it in West Texas as there is such a scarcity of housing .... those seeking work need to realize bust it once with an operation and most of them will write it off as "does not have it together"

Stallion is one of the operations R.D. mentioned so I got a paper app in usps rather fast, then BHP Billiton has taken multiple operations onto their 10-k .... news happens fast on EFS operations but I would think all the majors will be all too glad to hear from seekers that were able to at least start with the SNI / Halliburton account

So. Cal.'s economy is not much good either, but I can not afford to launch and keep the family in food money while I look. It would be interesting to say the least. I do hate to wait too long but can not just jump with out a job or at least a prospect.

I do have 3+ years and haz-mat but no TWIC card, that may make it a little better but no answer from phone calls yet.

The man @kdc1989 know's what he's talking about. Companies like Schneider are here in the oilfields to mess up the rates and they already have in Texas and ND. Owner Op's & Driver's working for "small" frac sand or water or crude companies have made more than twice what Schneider is paying these guys.


A person like @rockdoctor may be a really smart individual and knows how to type and write with proper grammar, etc. but does not know the trucking industry/oilfield industry as a whole.

Everyone knows SLB has a contract with Schneider since last year. That contract has had an effect on many people and companies. It has put some of the smaller companies out of business and have cut rates "DRAMATICALLY." @Rockdoctor If you don't mid sharing, how much does an average driver make per week, driving for Schneider? net earnings? Last year around this time of the year, IN TEXAS, owner op's hauling frac sand to well sites were making $4,000 to $11,000 NET per week. Driver's were making $1,400 to $3,200 per week. Companies like "Schneider" have completely raped the market with low rates by hiring people with no or little experience. NO offense to @RockDoctor in any form of way. You can ask anyone in the oil field business, that has been in the oil field for the past 3-5 years that Schneider really raped the market by cutting down rates!

In conclusion, I don't want anyone to think Schneider is the best thing to happen! In fact, Schneider coming into the oilfield business, was the WORST thing to happen! Ask people that have been in the business for a while and they will tell you something very similar to what I have typed.

Schneider was paying $220 per day, or $1320 for a 6 day week. Owner opps for sure make a lot more and they still do but I don't know of any company driver making anywhere near twice that. Lots of guys were working 6-1 but they stopped letting that happen just before the layoffs. So its been 6-2 for some so a lot of paychecks were for 5 days because of the pay period. The good part was you could finish in 10hrs a lot of the time, depending on where you were and if you had time to go back for another load. Not really a difficult job for the money but looks like its over and I suspect Rockdoctor didnt make the second cut. At this point it doesn't matter as Schneider isn't getting any loads anyway. That may change but for right now its dead.

 

It apparently changed just tonight. We're told there's work through next week, knock on wood, and many of the people who were laid off were offered jobs again to fill spots after many people got tired of the BS and quit outright. So who knows at this point.
