The drive to or thru the Lower 48, and yes, they go to Canada. The $100 is for your physical/med card.

True answer. However, some states will not simply accept your MO CDL at face value. I know of one, IL, believe it or not, requires you to take the PTI, skills, and road test in state before they will transfer an out of state CDL. In those cases Prime will route you through your home state to test out, and avoid taking those tests twice. IP is right, though. Prime will accept your CDL Permit and not make you retake the written tests. This is a good way to go. Not only will you not have to stress the written tests, while all the others are taking them, you will be able to attend an Instructor pre-trip class that not only puts you ahead of the game on that, it also allows you to get some face time with instructors and possibly find one to pair up with.

This is not up to Prime, rather the state of MO. My new student has a current TN Class B with a Class A Permit attached that he got by passing the relevant written tests in TN. You need to ask your state DMV on how to proceed.

Prime may be concerned about recent experience, and not accept your Class B. In that case, you may be asked to surrender your CDL, obtain a new permit, and undergo the entire student/trainee process.

Best to talk to a Prime recruiter first. Once you find out what they require, and it is acceptable to you, then you can navigate that path through your local/state DMV.

I hate to skirt issues, but Prime policies and state requirements change so frequently, you need to get definitive answers straight from the source.

I was trying to get a little clarification on this yesterday. Talked to safety, and the fellow I spoke with knew of no particular reason for the "surrendering" of a CDL. He also agreed that it appeared to be stupid on the surface. I have to believe it has something to do with state requirements, and I'll pursue an answer on the issue.

You are welcome. Remember also, that some (maybe all) states have a time limit on how long passed, written tests are valid. When I went back to IN to change over the MO CDL, I had to retake the Operator's written test because it had expired. Of course my CDL type tests were still good.

If your General Knowledge, et al, have expired, you may need to take them again for that reason, even though your Class B is still good.

Ok. This is a different kind of question. And not necessarilily a prime question. But an industry question. Why do company's need to verify 3 years of employment if your retired? Just wonder. If your retired and you decide you want to drive truck why shouldn't you be hired if you can make the grade?? Just wondered.
