Think of it this way: after two years, they figure you have enough of the basics down and experience (for which there is no substitute), so that they can train you for their operation without taking the time to go back to where we all started. Kinda of like you get your Master's after you get your Bachelor's.

The training probably involves things other than driving. Which means the job probably involves things other than driving. For instance milk haulers have to test all the milk themselves before they load and they have to properly document the tests. If they screw that up, the entire load goes in the garbage.

Not necesarilly. There are no-touch operations on the part of the driver. They don't load the truck, they don't unload the truck, they don't do any cleaning of the tank. All they do is drop and hook the loads.

But, yes, the paid training likely means there's something about the job that you have to be trained to do, whether its loading techniques, handling techniques, specific dangers and considerations about the job, etc.

get us a company name and more info. In my opinion, two years is enough experience to drive a truck just fine. IN THE AREA YOU HAVE DRIVEN FOR THOSE TWO YEARS. You may not have experience with the terrain the new company might travel to, things like mountains, gravel roads etc. Any company that actually spends their time and money furthering your education and skill set can't be all bad. That said if extra skills are needed you will probably find the job more demanding, more rewarding too, but some people are not prepared to put out the extra effort themselves, so they quit.

P.S. they could just be a crappy company too:) we won't know without more info.
