What brand of oil do you run?

Just became an owner operator last year been driving for 34yrs bought a 2006 KW w900 C15 Acert 523,000 miles on it i'd would really appreciate some advice on what motor oil should think about useing.? from new orleans residing in california sence hurricane katrina. y'alls opinon would be appreciated. thanks

 

I don't think it matters as long as you change it regularly. all the name brands are good. some oils for some reason seem to do better than others, according to others.I like delvac until I save $4.00 a gal on rotella. now that sale is over for me, so it's back to delvac. I would not be surprised if wal-mart brand super tech would be just as good as any other. comparing oils i.m.o. is not like comparing items made in u.s.a & made in China. I have heard of folks saying they have to add more oil between changes with a certain brand, but not with another. how or why that happens I have no idea. I myself think changing it when it needs to be changed is more important.

 

In my acccert i was running Delo but since switched to Mobile and its bin the best so far. Will never again run Rotella. My motor did not like the Rotella, would use oil and it had more blow by and a funny smell, plus the oil samples allways came back higher on all counts then with the other 2 brands. No alot of guys that will never go back to Rotella becuase of these same issues i had.

 

The best oil for any engine is like what is the best brand of ammo for a .22 rifle. All the brands are good, it is a matter of what the engine seems to do the best with. I have not used Delvac, but have used Rotella, Mystik, and Delo. I prefer either the Mystik or Delo. Right now, using Delo 400 LE 5w40 synthetic. Only because winter is coming on, I am using a bypass filter and doing extended drains, and I can get that synthetic at Wally World for the price of regular oil at the truck stop. My engine seems to use about 1 gallon per 20,000 miles. If the biggest bang for the buck on a good oil, I would give the Mystik JT-8 15w40 a shot. I used it in my last truck and it did a great job. Last time I bought it (July), it was $58 for a 5 gallon pail.

 

I use to use Delo all the time and switched to Mobil Delvac and have been using it regularly. I change it at 15000 to 20000 miles and it still looks pretty good. I had a rebuild about 80000 miles ago and am not using any oil at this time between changes. My pressure doesnt go down much before it gets changed and it handles the heat pretty well.

 

I have been reading all of these posts and find very useful. When you all who say Mobil Delvac are you referring to the Dino type super 1300? Or synthetic? Thanks in advance. I have used both delvac and rotella t and seem to be ok but the rotella stinks.

 

Is this the mobil delvac Dino oil (1300 super) or synthetic?
