I think Confucius was the first to say that.

in light of this thread, i am missing the "enlightenment"
seems like the second driver wasnt paying attention, probably didnt have his cb on which would have told him there was a backup, maybe doing a million other things

what does that have to do with road rage and people driving in the center lane causing road rage?

So what? The center lane is now reserved for road-ragin' supertruckers?

i am not faulting you, i wasnt there

but to say that this man went beserk merely because you went in front of him, "because he didnt like it" sounds like something is missing in that puzzle

mind you, we do have some crazies out there, but all of us return to the right lane and i cant remember someone getting pissed off at me, merely "because he didnt like me being in front of him"

maybe you misjudged his speed, maybe you came in front of him without sufficient space, we dont know

anyway, its over, you live and learn

no, slower traffic keep right, its the law and its common courtesy, except for "Smith driving technique" graduates

i guess this point escapes many drivers

Even the Smith System teaches that you should be running a minimum of the speed limit in lanes left of the granny lane. And yeah, if you're driving slower than the prevailing flow of traffic you should be further to the right. The thing I see is these jackwagons who assume due to the name on the side of the trailer that the 150 or so feet between trucks is there BECAUSE you are going slower... not because you are leaving yourself some space, then take it upon themselves to pass you on the right so they can travel at the exactly same speed you are.

no, the smith system teaches to go 2-3mph below the speed of traffic in the center lane so you can avoid rear-end collisions, maintain a safe following distance, get the bigger picture, and keep traffic flowing alongside of you, on both sides

its the old "rock in the stream" method of pissing people off

great for insurance companies, terrible for the flow of traffic, inconsiderate and against the law

Not that I recall. Specifically... "THE SPEED LIMIT." In any case, I'll run with the prevailing flow if I'm out of that righthand lane. Same scenario... leave enough space so you can actually stop if someone decides its time to be going 0mph - and without fail there's an idiot back there who has decided that space means you're the ol' rock in the stream. Jackwagon.
