That's what happens when you don't read the regs. You end up screwing yourself.

BTW, here is the reg I was refering too. Oh, gee whiz wilikers, they do have to show you, if you are a leased O/O. Must be a new one, written, oh, before I started in 1979!

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.aspx?reg=376.12

    (g) Copies of freight bill or other form of freight documentation. When a lessor's revenue is based on a percentage of the gross revenue for a shipment, the lease must specify that the authorized carrier will give the lessor, before or at the time of settlement, a copy of the rated freight bill or a computer-generated document containing the same information, or, in the case of contract carriers, any other form of documentation actually used for a shipment containing the same information that would appear on a rated freight bill. When a computer-generated document is provided, the lease will permit lessor to view, during normal business hours, a copy of any actual document underlying the computer-generated document. Regardless of the method of compensation, the lease must permit lessor to examine copies of the carrier's tariff or, in the case of contract carriers, other documents from which rates and charges are computed, provided that where rates and charges are computed from a contract of a contract carrier, only those portions of the contract containing the same information that would appear on a rated freight bill need be disclosed. The authorized carrier may delete the names of shippers and consignees shown on the freight bill or other form of documentation.

It is evident that the company you are referring to is small. And the best way to get the advice you are seeking would be to go to the source. Maybe even go to their terminal and talk to the drivers personally. Honestly not many drivers actually go on forums compared to the number of drivers out driving. You could ask the same question on this board for a year and still not have a response.

i know all about the regs. but it's all moot now.

and the regs have nothing to do with company driver pay.

My husband talked with a driver from D.R. Smith, and they pay their driver 30% of the linehaul. He said he averaged it with the miles, and he was making .40 cents per mile. I think it depends on the company, how much freight they have, and what they charge the customer for linehaul. We looked into them, but he didn't quite have 2 full years, and the companies insurance is strict about having 2 full years. I also agree that talking with drivers from a company that you are interested in, can give you the breakdown of that company before you go to them.

This thread has everything to do with O/O, not company driver pay. Read the title!
"Need Advice on becoming an O/O"

If you are going to be an O/O leased to a carrier, you need to read the regs to keep from screwing yourself.

Did you know that if the carrier, you are leased to, requires you to put up money for escrow, the carrier must pay interest on that money? It's in the regs. They even specify how much interest the carrier must pay and under what specific circumstances the carrier can withdraw the interest payment!
