Dang, this thread is fun to watch!

HappyHardCore.... That doesn't apply to the industry as a whole, because some of us are on the clock when doing non-driving work activities. But then again, I don't pull a van either.... ;-)

Job requirements include a Class A CDL, at least 23 years of age, one year of recent over the road driving experience, and a safe driving record.

    That is from there website

    www.heartlandexpress.com

You can always contact a recruiter and find out for sure. It never hurts to ask.

With due consideration that the employees of Heartland Express routinely make 60+ million of profit per year for their employer, we the drivers of Heartland Express make the following demands:

    1. Since there has not been a pay raise since at least 2005 ,an immediate pay increase to 60 cents per mile with equal pay for ALL drivers, regardless of terminal.

    2. Inspection bays to be opened from 0600-2359.

    3. Ice machines at all company terminals.

    4. Loaner cars at all company terminals.

    5. Attendants at all terminals to keep showers clean and have clean towels for drivers.

    6. Fresh-pure brand water machines at all the terminals that remove the chlorine and fluoride from the water.

    7. Fifteen percent pay increase for mechanics and non executive office staff.

    8. Increase 401k company match to 6% and allow drivers to invest in their own stocks if they so choose.

    9. Company paid health insurance at no cost to driver.

We will hire a business agent to negotiate the details. If all demands are met, Heartland Express will still be one of the most profitable companies in the industry.

And it should be noted that according to public records, the company president is worth at least 300 million dollars so providing better wages and benefits to his employees should not be a problem.

Hopefully other drivers see why they make such a huge profit, they shake a nickel and hope for six pennies.

Even I don't like Heartland anymore honestly but that was getting greedy in terms of what would realistically happen. When drivers take home over $1k a week, and no problem keeping drivers in their trucks, what motivation do they have? The turn over isn't high enough yet to make them listen to your demands lol. Although if they ever went through, I'd call them back in a heartbeat and beg for my job back lol.

On a more serious note, item number 5 (clean showers and towels) was a major issue when I worked for them. I'm sure it'd be pennies for the company to do that.

All those demands sounds good if you lived in a world where companies and people cared. By the way you forgot the most important demand...to get the drivers home on time every time like we do there freaking loads.
