$700 / day for FEMA trailer shuttling in WV - Lowball?

Low ball as it gets, those roads in West Virginia get nasty after the interstates. Even the major highways can be dangerous with good weather, I would say no to that. Hope people have chains and a tow strap since the highway department in West Virginia is not known to be efficient, long ways from many fuel stops also.

I am from West Virginia and think about this, West Virginia is the heart of trucking. Why are they wanting outside help?

 

It depends on miles and time. Also, are you setting these up for people? Or just drop and go?

You could use 6 gallons of fuel per hour. So at 10 hours, at $4.00 per gallon, you have $240 for fuel alone. Just an example. I assume you have a figure in mind what your truck costs are.

 

Leaving in one hour for NJ with my first drop . If anyone else is running out there maybe we'll bump into each other. Ill be hauling the first of many generators with Cat. Fema dont mess with them. I' ll keep everyone up to speed as to how bad it is ..my Iphone is an awesome little toy to have..

and what most folks can't seem to grasp is that you can spend more than 6 or 7 hours trying to get from one side or edge of the state to the other. This is not the plains where everything is flat and square and connected.

 

Very true, route 50 from Winchester Virginia to I 79 is a real interesting haul in great weather, let alone with a winter storm. 237 miles of nothing more than switchbacks and up or down. Was the standard route for FEMA routes to avoid I 68.

 

I love rt50 in the summer and fall. $700 a day is low for a dedicated truck. Can make that doing regular runs with out all the BS. WV a pretty big state and you could run up some miles and time and it could end up costing you.

 

Here's a table I found on the gsa website listing minimum rates. I don't know if this is for all government contracts, but if a broker is getting loads from GSA or FEMA they should be aware of it. LTL rates. Higher the weight,the lower the CWT.
