Hey, here's a word of advice. When going home you can park at the Conway Freight on Tradeport (right in front of Budweiser), it's free, safe and you can park your car there too. If you ever do a run from Orlando to Savannah, Ga only to get a load back to Orlando from the same place, try calling someone in Conway's management to convince them to make it a dedicated account (we do loads monday thru friday with those two companies). Also if you are interested in more hometime, that same Conway Freight in Orlando is hiring right now (at least last week they were).

And yes, they honor their bonus. I got both today as i pulled a hazmat load to Connecticut. So i got .36 + .05 + .03 = .44 on a 625 mile load, not a bad day! Then got to bobtail to Rhode Island (of all places in the world) and a load to Laredo (2150 miles).

I made $40,924 in my first 12 months at Conway. It's not a bad company to start with, but after you pay your dues, when it's all said and done it doesn't make sense to stay here any longer. Just to cite an example: Conway Freight new hires make more per mile than Conway Truckload's two million milers, plus they are home every day and weekends off. I just got an LTL job offer today, I took it. I'm quittting Conway, but i have no regrets about choosing this company over Werner or Swift or Crengland and the rest of the freak shows.

By the way, 15 months in Conway, no Canada loads. And I live 90 miles from Taylor.

XLS; 95% off company driver out here are Force Dispatched.....I've been driving since 1991 , some companies will give you a choice of loads but when they need the load to go ..it goes and your taking it: may go to sunny California ( some people hate going there) or the northeast or in Conway tl case it maybe Canada ....I have made peace with it!

Been driving for 3yrs now. I've pulled every load to anywhere the company wanted me to take it. Its the nature of the beast. Don't live close to Jacksonville or even Orlando. SO the rig/trailer is coming home with me, from what I was told. The trailer will be parked down the street and the rig parked in front of the house. Once I get to it and have a bit of funds, I will get the driveway widen.

Every Trucking company is a force dispatch! Even local companies are as well. You don't have a say in anything unless you own your rig! It is what it is, driver. Best make peace with that, kid. :biggrin_255:

They won't make you drive. They would just use the old tactic of "there's nothing we can do, so just do the best you can".

True they are forced dispatch, Like everyone else, BUT as far as Canada goes. Both terminal based and regional based "dedicated turn trucks" are starving for freight and have been for about 3 months. A lot of us have started contacting Joplin asking why we starve for freight to and from Canada while lots of drivers are complaining about going to Canada. It seemed for a bit they recognized that the solution/change would essentially be a win/win. Canada dedicated get more freight/miles and others get a HUGE increase in simple drop and hooks keeping them In the US and most runs have legs on the.Lm I.E NY/PA to TX, GA, LA, WA etc. it was going great but they have again gotten away from it for whatever reason as I haven't seen Canada in the truck for 3.5 weeks.

I will ask FM about it as she knows when run "right" in a way that keeps both dedicated & 48 OTR drivers happy then you all (OTR) end up running 3000 ish miles, make a good paycheck off of miles, and don't go to Canada and we (Canada dedicated) run around 1600-2000 mi but make just as much due to 50-60% of my pay coming from "bonuses" like border x-ing, NE Bonus, and Stop pay.

I believe but am not positive it is the "bean counter" not doing their job or missing details and just judging trucks profitability on mileage and not actual income. I despise 2700 mi weeks knowing I could have worked 16 hrs less and made equal or more money in my paycheck; just as much as all the OTR guys despise runs to Canada.
