Lol, I've only had three 4 digit paychecks so far that haven't been because of bonuses. Pulling oversize and all the tarping is what helps haha.

Yes, yes I am. Ever since I was a kid when I get money in my pocket it burns a hole and I lose it quickly. I need to stop. So far the only thing that's keeping me with saving and not spending every dime I have is saving for my own truck. If I become and owner operator I know darn well I absolutely CAN NOT just buy whatever I want like I do now.

I bought a Xbox 360 with a connect yesterday. I was tempted to get a hotel room just to play it. I bought call if duty and dance central 2 and 3.

Heck yeah. I just got the 4gb model. I bought a new TV cuz the 13" I had was horrible. Just too small to play any games on. I gotta get home so I can get my new one. Everything works nice in my truck.

I bought the 450 gb one I think. I used to have a PS2 in my truck but then I was running so much I couldn't play it. But I won't set up my xbox in the truck. I'm scared of breaking my neck trying to dance.

That's okay. You come to work for Roehl we can run together, I'll buy a long nose pete with a 120" sleeper. With bunk beds, so much room so you can dance and I'll play black ops 2.

Many things that we consider necessities are really luxuries. Some people confuse wants with needs. For instance, we may want a new Cadillac but what we need is transportation. An inexpensive used Honda will work to provide dependable transportation. We may want Cable with all the channels, but we can get along with the basic TV channels that are not on cable or do without TV altogether. We may want a nice 4 bedroom 4 bath home, but need shelter. A two bedroom one bath home will meet our needs. We may want Sirius but can get along with AM FM radio, which is free.

It might surprise some to know how little you can get along with if you really sit down and find out what is really important. I got rid of my Dish and now only have the basic channels that are free. I got rid of Sprint and now have prepaid Verizon for half the price. The only difference is I was billed monthly with Sprint and prepay with Verison. I have unlimited voice, test and data. I just pay less than half of what I paid with Sprint. I don't mind paying in advance if I can save $60+ per month.

You might be surprised at how much more money you have if you pay cash for what you buy. If you don't have the money to pay cash, you don't buy it. Those who use credit cards and don't pay the balance each month pay a very high price for their lack of discipline. I have a challenge for those who use a lot of credit. Buy a box of envelopes. On each envelope label it for what you pay each month. For instance, you have one envelope for electric, another for gas and another for water, etc., If you wish you could have a single envelope for utilities. Make a separate envelope for each of your monthly bills. Out of each paycheck you put in the individual envelopes the amount of the bill. If the bill is $100 then you can put $25/week into the envelope. Don't forget to have one envelope for entertainment. You also need to have an envelope for savings. For this to work you need to discipline yourself where you live on whatever money is in the envelopes. You no longer use your credit cards. You only buy what you have cash to spend. Doing this will accomplish a couple of things. First, it will help you to budget your money. Second, it will make you think before spending. There is something about having to pay cash whick makes buying things more real. If you use plastic it doesn't seem like you are spending money. Having to physically count out the money makes the act more real.

You may not have an income problem. What you may have is a spending problem. I know a woman who earns over $90,000/year and is always broke. Her sister maks about half that amount and has pretty much everything that she needs. The one who is the high income earner will always be broke because she doesn't want to live within her means. The other sister will always have money set aside due to the way she budgets her income. The lower income sister has put 3 chldren through college, 2 with masters degrees. Her home s almost paid for and she and her husband will have a decent income when time comes for retirement. The high income woman has a masters degree and will likely always be broke due to her need for immediate gratification and lack of discipline.

I have not owned a tv since I started driving a truck. I chose instead to give monetary excess to other family members that needed it . I will continue to do so and with no regard for repayment .
I'm with you on the pre paid stuff . You have just informed drivers of how they can operate with less which is the problem .
They shouldn't nor should their families have to deal with such equation's .
Drivers paying cash on the road atm fee's haha no thankyou .
