Companies have their own Hit list for meds. Sadly most don't find out until the first day of orientation when they are sent back home on the greyhound.

You will never fail a drug test as long as you have a prescription for the meds you are taking.

A cup of tea doesn't do much of anything besides help to form kidney stones much less stop an anxiety attack. Not asking for a zanax alternative or if its ok to take while driving.

My question is in regards to the hiring process. Will the mere fact that I use the prescription cause me a problem getting hired? Any prescription drug is ok for a trucking position as long as a doctor states it wont cause a driving problem. But that is a moot point in regards to xanax everyone knows you cant drive on it and I'm not looking to. My question is will a hiring manager be willing to extend me that trust if I say Ive no intention of taking it while driving. See just lying about it isn't an option.. it will show up in the hair based drug test.

Most will have a problem with it. But dude it only takes a phone call to see. Also if the recruiter say's its ok. Ask to talk to someone in Safety because recruiters don't know JACK.

If you call 10 companies. I'm sure at least 9 will say it's a NO GO. Too many applicants that don't have that problem. But you will never know until you make the call. They don't know you. So Just do it and let us know what they say. So the next person who comes on here to ask the same question. We will know how to help them.

Hair tests don't include Benzo's, but it's probably a good idea to disclose it and tell them you'll quit if they want you to. As long as it's prescribed, you're fine.

Benzodiazepines show for up to 90 days in hair.

    See graph -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_test

Thanks for the input guys. Glad I found this forum. Wish my dad knew about the power of the internet when he was in my position a few years back.. poor man joined up with SWIFT and quit within three months owing money.

Looking to start off with a good LTL company. Narrowed the list down to about 30... finding a good job in this industry is an exhausting pain in the ###.. for real. lol

Xanex is prescribed by doctors like they are giving out candy and is prescribed for anxiety. Interestingly, one of the major side effects of Xanex is ANXIETY! Another interesting point about this drug is that it is highly addictive.

    Here is how it works:

You go to your doctor and say "I am dealing with a lot of anxiety." So.. he prescribes a low dose of Xanex. (designed for short term use only)
You get your prescription and take your first pill. AHHHHHHHHH..... It works great!

You continue to follow your prescription but after awhile it stops working like it used to and your anxiety is back.
So... you go back to your doctor and tell him/her and he increases your dosage.
You take your increased dosage and... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH It works great!

You continue to follow your prescription but after awhile it stops working like it used to and your anxiety is back.
So... you go back to your doctor and tell him/her and he increases your dosage.
You take your increased dosage and... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH It works great!

And so on and so forth. Until you realize that you are now on what is considered a high dose and are completely hooked.

Xanex is more addictive than cocaine. More addictive than heroin. In fact, it is the most addictive prescription medication on the market.

Remember... it was designed only for short term usage. So how will you get your anxiety to go away if you HAVE to keep taking it?

If you are on Xanex right now, I highly recommend you look into this and get yourself off of this drug as soon as possible. There are many other medications that aid with anxiety that will not interfere with a CDL and are not addictive.

How do I know? Been there done that... did the research.
