That's were I was in late July, 2012. The signs in which my wife caught was constant urination at night and drinking lots of fluids. I lost 20 pounds in 1 month, My urine at times smell like a sweet smell ( the doctor defined it as apple odor). And when I was driving, I would't last at least 20 miles before I had to pull over again to urinate. But the icing on the cake was when my VISION went BLURR one early morning. I even couldn't read my gauges on the dash. That was a wake up call for me. I had a buddy that had a glucose test kit and it was 430 that day. Well I went to the Doctor the very next day after I fast and my results were as I posted for a title.
At my visit and lab results, the Doc said Im type 2 diebetic. And from now on I will be on med's and a strict diet , or else...........
Well after a strict diet and next to nothing sugar( except in naturual foods) and 3 months later.......
Glucose 105, A1c 6.2, Cholestrol 123, Triglycerides 73. I only take 2 meds now, and eat mostly poultry veggies. I do spoil myself here and there but go back to my Healthy diet. And also read all the labels on what I eat. I also pack a lunch daily. One of the problems WE have as truckers is not eating for a long time, that is one of the biggest mistake we can make and when we do eat its a bad choice and to much cause we were starving. I learned so much while in those 3 months.
I always carry almonds and walnuts/pecans and snack on those all day. No more FRIED FOODS or Processed. Its a big adjustment but easy to get use to. I had a goal to beat diabetes and I have. My next goal is to get away from all meds. I only take Natural Supplement and Fish Oil is Number 1 in my list. Good health to all.....
Glucose 263, A1c 9.9, Cholestrol 720, Triglycerides 1992, "NO KIDDING"

Good for you. I guess it is lucky that you caught it. A better eating lifestyle really helps, but those figures sure did drop down low. You should be feeling a lot better now and I hope in the future you can drop the meds. Don't forget cinnanmon is supposed to be good too and it does come in supplement form also. Pistachio's are also another nut which is supposed to be good for diabetics, and if you like avocado's it is good too.
mje Thanks this. -
I do take Cinnanmon in tea and supplements, and avocados is a favorite of mine to.

Did you have any issues with DOT Med cert?.... Suspension or anything while you went through this process.
What kind of meds are you on? and are there any side effects.
I may be having some of your same symptoms and am curious about the process....

Wow, Dave, what a turn around. And you are absolutely right about the meals, and choices.
Keep us posted. There have been people that have reversed the process and gotten off the meds. I'd like to see you be one of them, and it looks to me like you have been pretty diligent about the regiment to change things.Diesel Dave, mje and cuzzin it Thank this. -
