Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

You must be referring to Central or South America. North America (USA) has plenty of signal.

 

I would agree with that. It is called cellular service. I get on my laptop just about everywhere there is a cell signal around. That pretty much is the majority of the country. I suppose if Barney were to stop me out in Rocks Throw, Nowhere, then I might have a problem. But if the Qualcomm went down, I would already have gotten what I need in the way of previous days logs in my possession either in hard copy or on my laptop anyway, this is a moot issue.

I guess some get a kick out of playing all these "what if" games. In the broad scheme of things it really doesn't matter. If someone is not on e-logs, then why worry about it? For those of us that are, we have this already under control. And no one is being forced to use them yet by the government, except a few renegade trucking outfits. And the earliest it even looks like it could happen if government got right on it now would be 2018 according to the experts that track this stuff.

 

what if the elogs had a robot arm that beat the DOT man up. Would you be held accountable?

Or what if the DOT man had a robot arm and beat you with it, do you fight back?

What if he had two robot arms that went crazy because of skynet and started creating robot arm terminators, would you be accountable for this since you're on elogs?

Or if the robot arms attacked you and turned you into a screamer? (If y'all remember the movies "screamers")

What if the elogs turned your truck into a giant robot arm and flipped off the sun?

Or if the sun blew up and because of elogs it blew up and we were left in a giant ice ball known as iceth(ice covered earth).

Yeah, these are all possibilities if you are on elogs. So be careful.

verizon is spotty in montana, wyoming, dakotas, texas, oklahoma, colorado, half of utah and ariona and new mexico. gone completely in maryland and west virginia. till i get across the pennsylvania state line. then it's full signal.

there are TONS of well traveled roads i get no verizon signal. half the country i get no signal. basically.

 

how about the movie maximum overdrive. where all the semi's came to life

That's one of my favorites. I was just thinking that'd be crazy to be driving down the road then your door opens and throws you out and your truck just keeps going lol

....which IMO, there isn't any ( for the O/O)..
...The EOBR's mainly benefit the Big Trucking Company,
not the truck driver or O/O...

the paper log is a legal document( due to the signature) ...
....and if there ever is an investigation..and FMCSA found logbook alterations...
..that driver/company has to be prepared for those consequences...

If the EOBR's prove to be MORE PROFITABLE, FOR THE BIG TRUCKING COMPANY,
THEN THERE DOES NOT HAVE BE A FEDERAL LAW
REQUIRING THEM FOR EVERYONE ACROSS THE BOARD
FOR THE ENTIRE COUNTRY....
The Big Trucking Company or companies can go continue using EOBR's WITHOUT A FEDERAL LAW REQUIRING THEM...

You have now successfully expressed your opinion. My opinion is the opposite and I do not need to bold my letters to express it. All carriers should be operating under the same rules and enforcement of compliance, no matter the size.
I run on paper, as I have a mechanical engine and an EOBR will not hook up. I also run an electronic log app, on my smart phone. Between the two, the electronc is more efficient and actually manages my driving time better than can be done on the paper log.
