I guess you have not read everything I have entered here ! The damage to the trailer is not the reason , the reason for NOT getting hired by a top company is because :
"QUITTING WITHOUT NOTICE" I had talked to my dispatcher more than once , explaining my dissatisfaction with working for this company (GSTC). I called once about 6 weeks before quitting & told him I was giving him a floating verbal notice of quitting & then called him again about 2 weeks before quitting & told him I was going to quit ! The 2 weeks went to around 3 weeks , but when I returned thier truck & trailer , I had cleaned out all my things , washed the entire inside of the truck & even reshined the floor mat ! Placed all thier paperwork in the sleeper draw where it is supose to be ! Then turned in everything to dispatch , spare keys , fuel cards , ID card , and imformed them that it was my last day ! Thier lame excuse is "I did not give them a written notice" I think most companies would have been happy that I cleaned the truck (well enough so a new driver could get right in & start driving it) & returned it to thier main shop !
So , you see I could get another job with a company like Prime right now , but that would be a MAJOR step backwards for me ! I am 58 years old & not looking to start all over at the bottom of the barrel !!
GSTC - will trash your DAC !!

GSTC - Gordon Sevig Trucking Company , will always remain in my mind as a VERY bad driving experience ! How many drivers have gave a written 2 week notice , just to be treated like crap for those 2 weeks by the company ? How many drivers completely clean & scrub out thier trucks before returning it , even re-shining the floor mats ?? How about we make it so a company has to give us (as drivers) a 2 week notice of getting fired or discharged !! I have heard of a couple that gave notice & were told to leave the truck where it is & give the keys to the fuel desk that they will send someone to get it ! Afraid that you (the driver) would do damage to the truck , or sell fuel on thier cards ! Come-on we do not live in a PERFECT world , trucking has gone so low over the last 10 or so years that drivers (not good ones) have become a "dime a dozen" ! The flooding of the "2 week wonders" has made it almost dangerous to be on the road anymore ! Even parking in truckstops is dangerous , I have seen more then my share of bad drivers parking , or sitting at the fuel islands & going inside & litteraly taking a shower & having dinner ! The new dress code for drivers has become sweat-pants or shorts , T-shirts & sandals or clip-clops !! I have seen way to many new drivers that should NOT have even been considered for trucking because of thier weight . When it takes a driver about 5 minutes to dismount his truck , he should reconsider his line of work !
I think that around 50% of new drivers have to have a GPS , because most can NOT read an atlas ! Or do alot get trained properly , like using the middle lane on a 3 lane road for the travel lane , not moving over for faster traffic ! I have evn seen a few drive past an open scale , because they did not understand they were suppose to enter it !

Quitting under dispatch isn't a deal breaker any more either.
I also can't believe that moving from GSTC to Prime is MAJOR step back. -
Or, you could have been home like myself last year, gave a two week notice and was told "If you're leaving us, come up now and clean your truck out so we can put someone else in it". I'm sure glad I only live a few miles from the yard. I was always on time, never complained about where the loads went and the truck was kept very, very clean (no shoes past the drivers seat clean). So much for being thoughtful and respectful of the company. Then my DAC says "quit under dispatch/unauthorized location/company policy violation", all the while I was on my home time and the truck was in the yard.

Quitting under a dispatch is the same as abandoning your vehicle if the company states it on the drivers DAC ! This is a MAJOR thing in todays trucking , and the drivers DAC is what can make or break a driver ! DAC is a driver rating system & one of the first things a company looks at before hiring a new driver !
Your "location " says "at home" -- and you only say "Trucking Industry" so I am not even sure if I am replying to a driver or a company member ??? Maybe some education into the Industry would help !! -

I still don't think that the move from GSTC to Prime is a major step back. I feel it's more of lateral move and will have zero effect on your overall career as a driver.
I've got plenty of education in the industry, but thank you for your concern. I've got multiple contacts and have been offered multiple positions at several different companies. The folks at GSTC are no nonsense and from what they've told me they don't take violations lightly. They are much more heavy handed than I would be. The system they use is very rigid and this will result in some unhappy drivers, but better CSA scores. My system is less rigid, resulting in fewer unhappy drivers, but we give a little ground on our CSA scores. -
I just reread this. Outlaw you said you dropped a trailer and noticed the one beside it was damaged so you reported it? Why would you report it if you didn't hit it? All you had to do is leave and the driver that would pick it up would be responsible for reporting it. That's the way it normally works. If you are really innocent you just set yourself up.
On a dispute with DAC the company has to prove their claim. Evidently they did.
If not your next step with DAC is you are protected under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Check into that.RAGE 18 Thanks this.
