You can put 80k plates on a pickup truck.

I would check if the road you were on is weight restricted. Keep in mind a bobtail is between 7-9 tons. Also if you were on U.S. Route, they have to have wriiten consent from the feds to restrict a federally funded road.

You can if you have extra money laying sround or just want that big rig feel.

Pay $120 for a year for a pickup or pay $2500 to be registered 80k tractor. Better yet pay $45 for two years for a farm pickup good to 36k.

The 80k plates dont protect you from the laws regarding your components being rated that high though. County boys may be okay but contrary to what super troopers portrays, the state boys dont seem to have much of a sense of humor.

10,000 GVW or over is a truck. BT, you're about 18-19K. Most restricted truck routes are because of weight. Cities don't want trucks tearing up their roads, right ? Now there are exceptions, like the Mayor lives on this street and doesn't want trucks driving by his house, or,maybe a hospital or school.
