Yea, to me that's the only reason to "cheat" on my logs. If I run out of hours 30 miles from my house I'm not gonna sleep in the truck when I could be cuddlin' with my wife. It's not to make a few extra dollars, its to have a life.

I don't even need to "cheat" using an e-log in that situation. I have a number of locations at various distances from the house I can drop a loaded trailer at and legally bobtail on home using OFF DUTY DRIVING on the e-log or on paper. I am going to the barn regardless of all this nonsense. Worse case was once when I wanted to keep the tractor under the trailer, I had run out on the 11 for that day, heading home. I stopped about 40 miles from the house and parked and had the wife come get me. If one wants to, they can be creative enough to figure a way thru all of this. I will concede that I make less this year than last year on e-logs, but that probably was due more to the fact that I took a total of 4 weeks off this year also. Yet, I will came close to what I made last year when I didn't take so much time off.

I am fully cognizant of the fact that not everyone lives in a location that this works well. I live in central Iowa, so I have a lot more options to safely drop a trailer and bobtail on home. But if one uses a little brainpower, they can overcome any obstacle.

a driver shouldnt have to jump thru hoops to do his job or go home

the fact that you have learned how to jump thru hoops, while balancing a ball on your nose is nothing to brag about

I'd have to invert the table to see a pattern that seems like too much effort.

I am confused. Maybe you can elaborate a little. How am I jumping thru hoops? I am not doing anything that hasn't been legal to do since 1939. And how is dropping a trailer and bobtailing home or having my wife pick me up jumping thru hoops? There is no loophole here, whether on paper or e-log. The FMCSA has made a determination a long time ago that when unladen and not doing anything related to commercial activity, then the truck can be used as a personal conveyance and there is no requirement to log driving or on duty. Simple.

Never was bragging. Just stating a solution to a problem that only those that haven't figured it out or taken the time to read up on directly on the FMCSA website.

Yeah I see a pattern; What is first should be last and what is last should be first.

Sounds like prophecy of End of Times.....Biblical!
