Hi everyone. I'd like to know your favorite companies to lease onto. I live in Philly and am looking to get home weekly when I buy my truck shortly. Does anyone have anything bad to say about Forward air? They made my short list. What other companies pay well that i should consider. Forward airs rates are good, but I was hoping for better.
Thanks,
Cody
Good company to lease onto?

I'm happy at Bruce Oakley out of N Little Rock, AR......
Ive been there going on 2 years, always have a check, and always
have a load when I call in.....
Havent been away from home a weekend yet -
try west motor freight out of boyertown pa.i worked for them for 1 1/2 years before i got my authority.they do alot of northeast but always treated me fairly.mostly preloaded trailers with alot of drop and hook stops .they will get you home every weekend and all holidays unless you want to stay out.the only reason i left is because i got my own authority with my own customers.

Thanks for the info! Bruce looks like a good company to work for but hey only hire with 2 years otr experience. I only have 1. As for west motors, they pay % and i would prefer per mile to get started.
Thanks -

well you might want to try ffe -- they have a terminal across the river in burlington and they have quite a bit of northeast regional work --- they pay a little more on that side of the country and should have something open . the dedicated folks are making good money not sure how long it takes to get on those , the company drivers get a weekly minimum pay not sure how they work that with the o/op -- i have been with them for awhile now and have few complaints -- they have ltl too wich pays better if you dont mind handling some frieght --- talk to sandy adams in recruiting 800-569-9200

on milage if a load pays the company 1000.00 for400 miles and you rate is a buck a mile you only get $400.00. On % at 68% you would get $680.00. How is milage better. With good paying frieght you can gain on %. With milage you are locked in and can't gain But it is a free world do as you wish.
volvodriver01, Clasix1055 and jess-juju Thank this. -
First off, the companies I'm looking at pay way more then a buck a mile. Secondly, what if the load pays $300 and its 600 miles long. In the past I have had loads like that to get out of bad freight areas. Now i would only make 204 which is .34/mile. I'd like to have the securety knowing if I move my truck I will be paid enough to not loose money. Yes, in the long run % normally is a little better, depending on the company, but you also get a less consistent paycheck as well as well as a bit more risk of having to take a bad load. Also most companies that pay % don't pay anything for bounce. Most that pay mileage pay something for bounce. Forward air pays the same loaded or empty, so if you move your truck you are getting a paid a predetermined income and don't risk having to move for pennies. Fuel and manintanence aint cheap...i don't want to move my truck for .34/mile. Were both talking about the extreams here, but the truth is /mile is less risk while % may have slightly higher pay. As a new driver to whoever i leese on with, they are gonna give me all the crap loads anyway. being % on crap loads is bad.
