I have an app in my phone that does my fuel and miles for state logs. I also write down my mileage as I cross state lines. I rely on the 510 to tell me my loaded/unloaded miles and toll/non toll. 65% of my miles are NY and need those figures to file NYHUT correctly.

I recommend "SimpleIFTA" app for android. Its great at keeping miles/fuel. Its always within 2-3mi accurate every quarter between my GPS, the app, and odometer miles.

Sometimes the 510 requires you just push the on button while hitting the reset several times. Until it comes on you cannot retrieve any information.

If you let it charge on AC does the light go green after about 3 hours or about 6 hours on DC?

    Thanks,
    mark

I just tried holding the on button while pushing reset several times. No luck. So far just red light, I am charging off my laptop, so I will know if the light will go green in a couple hrs. If it goes green after about 3hr, good or bad? Or if stays red, good or bad?

Laptop will not provide enough power for charging. It should be on DC or AC.

    Thanks,
    Mark

giving up on my 710. the first one i had died after less than 3 months on the road. it would not charge. either through the cig lighter or home charger. sent it back, they were good @ getting another one to me in less than 2 weeks. got that one in my new truck and it lasted less than 2 months. same problem. Gonna try a Cobra with Christmas bonus money and use this one as a coaster (albeit a very expensive coaster) in my truck. its a shame, when they worked i really liked them.

Mine had the same problem, I discovered that the USB connector was mechanically worn from vibration and was not making good contact. I crimped the metal shell on the cable, and now it will charge with the connector pulled out halfway. I needed to secure the cable to the unit to limit the vibration. It still has connection problems from time to time, but I just move the cord and it resolves itself.

The internal speaker stopped working after about 2 months. Sometimes it works when the case is warmed by the sun, so I think it's also an internal connection problem caused by vibration.

I'm a bit concerned. I mailed in my POP with the free map update form and thus far have heard nothing. It's been about three weeks....any ideas?
