That I understand. You found the right thread. A request for assistance would have worked also.
Thanks,

I have a few general questions. Do some of you get a message when you run a diagnostic that says issue found with one file? I always run a diagnostic after a update and I always get the same message. Also does anyone know how to decipher the serial number? T.I.A.
-
As mentioned before, do not worry about the file. It is a CRC check that sees a CR when it should not. It does not affect the file nor the operation of the TND.
Thanks,

Each character in computer language is either a 4, 8, 16, 24, 32, or 64 bit word. It is one's and zero's.
1-255
A-Z
Special characters such as a Carriage Return or Enter key.
for example a 4 bit word.
0000 = (leading zero) 8 4 2 1, so if we have 0100 this would equal 4 on the crc count. 1100 = 12.
whereas 1111 = 15
once you reach 255 bits on word then it also uses A-Z.
This is an example of a CRC or MD5 check on a file under NaviVoices.

I would like to apologize for my silly rant re the 720. I was frustrated and had no clue on how to utilize it. And I'm still learning.
The 720 is actually a BRILLIANT DEVICE. Like my iphone, I can't imagine doing without it. The verbal warnings (speed, curve, hill, construction) alone are worth the price I paid. So what if I can't find a few addresses, like the giant Walmart DC in Hermiston OR. It found the Lowes DC in Lebanon OR when google could not. And sometimes my co's directions trump both google and the 720. So there it is.
Now my only problem is accessing the manual on my phone because, unfortunately, there's not good wifi available most of the time for my laptop.
And one other thing: the engineers need to work in an instant mute button on the map screen so you get that woman to shut the eff up when you're tired of listening to her. -
Press the speaker icon that pops up whenever she's talking. It shuts her up.Rogerthat Thanks this. -
Hi, No problem. I get it all the time. As with any electronic device they take a little getting used to. I still have issues with my TV remote.
Any time you cannot find an address let me know. If I cannot find it I usually go to Googlemaps and make sure it is a valid address. Sometimes I find the city is different than what would be on your BOL.
If Rand cannot find it then Rand does turn it into NavTeq to be updated.
For the Hermiston Wal-Mart DC. I put in destination/POI/city/Hermiston, OR/quick stops/WalMart - 2nd item down is the DC. 2650 Hwy 390S.
The POI's use a different DB and Wal-Mart supplies with their Stores/DC's.
I tried to find the address also and it does not find by normal means. I will submit this back to Rand.
I tried US, HWY, OR, SR.
Next time you get good internet download the PDF manual and save to your computer. I can do that here and E-Mail it to you if you wish.
You should be seeing a speaker towards the bottom left on the map screen whenever anything is spoken. Tap on this and it will mute the speaker. Tap again and it will unmute.
I am always here for any questions or concerns you may have on any TND issue. Remember, a clear description of the issue or concern will give me what I need, else I will have to ask more questions. Just remember - who/what/why/where.
I understand the need to rant once in awhile, but once you rant, let's get down to the meat of the issue so that I may help you.
Thanks,

Routing issue TND 710
Try routing from Laurel, MD to Allen Park, MI. Fastest route, toll roads allowed, no ferries, no u-turn, no border crossing allowed.
Just north of Elyria, OH the GPS routes onto 57 north, then 90 West, then 2 West instead of staying on the OHTP to 280 north. WHY? This route made absolutely no sense to me, and is definitely not the fastest. After ignoring the routing and remaining on the OHTP, the recalculation added 10 miles and removed 30 minutes from the travel time.
Also:
I've reported several routing problems in the past, and the one that really sticks in my craw is the inability of the device to recognize the GWB as a valid route into NYC. At least one of your competitors is able to make this route work. When will RM - the long standing authority in cartography - step up to the plate and fix the obvious issues with the routing? We've paid for the devices and reported the issues. Now it's your (RM's) turn.
