Um,,,,,huh? I'm in the 2013 388 which is almost identical to the 379's TMC has now. The truck you refer to will be used in the specialized divisions such as the boat group from what I have heard. Bear in mind, there are many stories out there.

The trucks that Maveric have dont compare in my opinion to the looks of what I'm driving. And I think they are auto-trans.

Ok, well thats great then. Disregard my last uneducated post. I was just going off of what "they" said. That infamous "they"said spreading bum scoop again. Thats awesome. Does your truck still have the cat or is it the pac-car engine? Just curious.

Yes, they are Cummins as well as 9 speeds. You wouldn't think it but, it took awhile to get used to doing less as far as shifting. Kept wanting to hit the splitter for the first coulple weeks at least.

Just got offered a ext hood. Turned it down though. This truck has been to reliable and I dont want to get into something that ill have to work all the bugs out of. Plus I dont smoke and most drivers do so it takes a while for that smell to be fully gone. O well ill take my shorthood and enjoy it!

the power is about the same. Same HP. Shifting RPM is different. Have to wind her up before grabbing the next.

Well, looks like I have to eat my own words. I just read an article of the TMCtrans.com website that says the new 579 will be the standard truck for TMC and they have 1500 ordered to replace the aging fleet they have. Kinda has me scratching my head now. Why did they order some 588's if the 579 will be the new fleet truck?
Just goes to show,, cant beleive everything your told. Go figure.
