I work for United Road and feel they are a good company. I made 102k this past year and was home nearly every weekend and some during the week. It all depends what terminal you are based out of. I too worked for allied for many years. If you work in Greer or West Point, Ga yes they do stay out usually 10 days. I work at a rail head and could be home every night if I chose too. I love that they have no central dispatch. There is no perfect company for everyone, but I feel United Road is one of the better companies.
Good equipment as well...Hope this helps.Mrcroom213 Thanks this. -
Anyway, whatever, look, at the risk of breaking b@lls, and waiting till summer for a response, I'll ask this: How long were you with them ? How long were you a car hauler ? Were you a broker, or company driver ? Were others in your terminal, or rail head, parked, or were they running ? How far out of home base did you run ?
I'm asking to get a feel for 'why' ? My experience in car haul is that the companies make their money with cars. Period. Broker or driver. In car haul, it is in everybodies best interests to keep the gear rolling, even empty to the next $$ paying load. I have personally seen situations where it was clear someone wasn't 'liked', but at the end of the day, they were kept rolling in the interests of the almighty $$$.
I guess what I'm asking is: Was everybody else out of your terminal parked, or were they rolling along (loaded or mt) someplace ? -

Good Morning,
My name is Stephanie Burgess. I am a recruiter with United Road. I would like to speak to you in regards to your question and answer any other questions you have. I'm not sure who you spoke with last, but that is correct we are the 2nd largest logistics company in the US. We run our drivers all year round with no layoffs. If your still interested please give me a call. Phone number removed
Thank you

herring22 and WhyDriveTruck Thank this. -
I have been with United Road 1 year. I have been hauling cars 19 years, 18 with Allied until the plant was shutdown. I am a company driver at a rail head and all drivers have been working. I have yet to see any of the drivers at the rail head where I work not working due to lack of freight. I have run trips from east coast to west coast and I run local loads close to home, my choice. that is one of the benefits to working at a rail head.

Hello - I talked to a recruiter today about a company OTR slot out of Fontana and was told co. drivers get between 19-22%, yet one reply here said co. drivers are on mileage pay...which is it?
TIA
