o, let me change my entire approach to my work because YOU say so
no, when a shipper hands me the bills, i sign and move on
if the dates are wrong, they are wrong, and i am not about to alter a bill or fight with them
as long as it will get me to my destination, then thats all i need
i have pulled loads with bills that looked like they were from grade school, DOT has looked at these same bills and shaken their heads
life is not about fitting into someone else's definition of what i should and should not do
sometimes the bills say 40k lbs and its less than 20k, i am not weighing the load
i bet you are one of those drivers who count the freight? i dont, thats not my job and i dont sign for driver count loads, thats these companies putting their responsibility on you
Would you leave Landstar if they require you to get eobr?

Seriously? Sign & go? Maybe that works for you. Within the past month I had a consignee get my load mixed up with the truck next to me with the same product. Sealed load from a poultry plant so yeah, no counting and not much doubt about the cargo. But I did read my bills before signing to make sure all the data points (destination, PO number, weight, seal number, etc) checked out before accepting them.
I thought it was odd that the other guy got unloaded first even though his appointment time was later. But then, that wouldn't be the first time that ever happened. When I got my bills back, they had the wrong PO number on them. The guy next to me had gotten my bills and was long gone. Easy to get corrected while still sitting right there vs figuring it out a month or two later when fighting over the invoice.BigBadBill, REDBEAN, jess-juju and 2 others Thank this. -
I might not be picky about the date, but dang skippy I am paying attention to the rest of the data on that BOL.
One screw up and there are a LOT of things that will hurt payroll.BigBadBill Thanks this. -
Sucker lease drivers. Last time I checked it was YOU that makes your truck and trailer payments. Not LS or any other company. Keep pulling their freight though. cause they are such a GREAT outfit to work for.. LOL. Seems to me that you are nothing but a bunch of glorified company drivers. LOL

Shouldn't the DOT cop notify the local sheriffs at the shipper's jurisdiction to put the plant out of service for falsifying shipping documents?
whoopNride Thanks this. -
Some stamp when the last pallet is scanned on the truck, but you can spend an hour or more to tie down & get to the scale (Miller Brewing).
If you pick up a spot loaded trailer at Miller the BOL will reflect the date & time it was loaded, not the date/time you picked it up, or the time when the BOL was actually printed, but the BOL will still have your signature on it.
Many shippers use the time at which the BOL is actually printed, which may or may not coincide with the time at which you are actually loaded. I have seen shippers that print the BOL when the order is pulled, which may not even be on the same day on which it is shipped.
Porteous Fastener stamped my BOL when I checked in, then told me it would be 3-4 hours before they could get me to the dock. (I actually made that work to my advantage)
If I am ever busted for my BOL time not matching my log book I would fight the citation with an attorney & demand that the accuracy of the time on the BOL be proved by the prosecution. I would do the same with a fuel time stamp.
And God Bless shippers who do not time stamp.REDBEAN, blacklabel and whoopNride Thank this. -
Wouldn't be easier to just put the date and time when you went to sign for the bills before you left the shipper?
And btw, and I know this is off topic, but if your signature is not sarcastic, then it is wrong, Boardhauler.
Ayn Rand was Russian, not French. Atlas Shrugged was certainly NOT a poorly written novel. And Ayn Rand did not believe that God did not have a place in society. She believed that people should base their decisions off of rational, logical, self interest, for the mutual benefit of themselves and others. In other words, having a deal made between two or more people that all benefit each other, because otherwise, that's slavery. She also believed people have the inherent right to make their own choices, as long as you're not infringing on the rights of others. As far as the God thing, she didn't believe that people should follow a religion in which people become slaves for the benefit of others. She also did not, as far as I know, assume that it would be scientifically possible for a God to exist, and thus perhaps believed that most, if not all, religions were based on the idea that one could control others simply by scaring them with the specter of an angry deity that can punish and reward at will - which is basically how most, if not all, religions are used by humans. Of course, people who are truly Christian know that this is false - but the fact remains that a lot of so-called Christians, such as the Westboro Baptist clan, use and pervert the religion to scare, manipulate, offend, and ultimately try to control those through law that don't agree with them. This is fascism, and of course Ayn Rand did not promote anything such as that.
Anyways, sorry for the rant, back on topic. Yeah, wouldn't it be easier to just put the date and time on the bills when you go to sign for it? That's what I am required to do as per company policy, as well as sign SLC to note that the shipper loaded and counted the freight. -

My wife and I were the last orientation class to be able to choose the EOBR or not. At first we chose not too and stuck with paper. After 3 months we changed our minds and took the EOBR. Simple reason - it eliminated the possibility of any DOT officer giving us any ticket for any log issue. Espically those viations that can be open to interpretation, which are being more frequently reported. For the record, I have been driving for 9 years on paper logs and never once have I had a log violation. I can spell and can do math. I see the EOBR as just another tool to keep everything compliant. Rules are rules and the hours available are what they are, nothing more nothing less. Push against the rules and your asking for for trouble.

I know full well that she was Russian by birth, but I believe she was here under a French passport.
