okay looking for some advice. I sold my truck 1999 Kenworth T600 C12 430hp Super 10 3:55 rears 24.5 lp rubber over all a good truck but I wanted more power and more gears!!! a 13 speed and 6nz would of been perfect!! lol. so i sold my truck to try out a new buisness. I bought a f350 and started tramsporting boat OTR. Well it was a crazy idea but it has kinda worked so far but I am not happy. Every time I see a good looking truck I wish i was driving my KW again. So after looking at all my numbers, I am making a little more then in my big truck but not worth my happines and not having a sleeper.i am gonna put a driver on my f350 and buy another big truck. Thats the problem. I love hoods but the way fuel is I think another T600 would be the way to go. I would love to find a 6NZ cat T600 but i cant find a clean one spec'ed right. How ever I have found lots of twin turbo cats spe'ed awesome!! 475hp 13 sp studio sleepers fully loaded trucks but I dont know what to think about thoes twin turbo cats. I am looking at two trucks more then others. one is a 2004 KW T600 475hp Cat with a 13 speed and 3:36 rears i really like this truck but since its an 04 i think it might be a twin turbo cat.
the other truck is a 2007 Kw t600 475hp cat MXS vin# on engine 13sd 3:08 rears but i think thats not right, loaded with all the wistles and bells.bith trucks have 85x,xxxk miles. both priced in the mid $30's whats the cat to stay away from? I am trying to get ahold of the dealer with the 04 to see what cat is under the hood. I pull 53ft reefer mostly east coast and somties out west as far as el paso. any advise would be great. I found many many many petes Exhd's with 6NZ'S and w900 but there are very little t600's available now. Maybe I am wrong but i think a lot of people are leting go of there hoods and going aero. At least I have been seeing way more t600 now hooked up then before and hoods are cheap now, a lot less then equally spec'ed T600's. anyways you guys be safe out there!!!

Do yourself a favor and buy the 379 exhd with the 6nz. Go get it programmed by Mr. Haney. You should still be able to get 6.5+ mpg no problem and I guarantee you will love the truck. I had a w900L company truck with a 6nz and that truck, every single day, got 6.5 mpg, and I drove that thing the way it's meant to be driven. Loved that thing, would still buy it if given the opportunity. Once you drive a hood for a while, and I know I've only been driving a hood for 3.5 years, but honestly I don't think I could go back to an aero truck. Anything else I get in I'm like, "where'd the hood go???"

I hear you man, I had a 379exhd for about a year and loved it. The problem was mine was a 99 with a 500hp det and a 15 speed. I couldn't get that truck to do anything over 4.8 mpg hand calculated driving right and easy. I am sure there was something wrong with the tune or whatever. I had my t600 for three years and would die for 379exhd. Every time I see one I go nuts but I have a family to maintain and could not make it with 4 mpg. I would love to get a 6nz Pete and get mr Hanley to tune it. Lets see it's much better then a bs accert truck I'll ya. Besides to convince my self I tell my self the Pete will be easier to work on because I do most of the work my self. Lets see what happens

The 04 will either have a BXS accert in it or a MBN bridge motor in it. Stay away from the MBN, they are boat anchors. I have a BXS in my W900L with the Bullydog programer on it, as long as I don't have a big oversize load on and drive decent I can pull mid six's easily.

Think I would rather the MBN IF possible, but think with Haneys tune the turbo needs swapped out, drop the cats & replace the muffler with a free flow from Donaldson? Maybe a couple of other things? It has been awhile since I have read up on it.
Is Mr Haney posting much anymore these days? Am sure all the specifics to this is posted in the mountains of CAT threads on this forum.

Yeah that's a "poor man's" unbridged MBN. It's what I have and gets respectable mid 6 mpg driving speed limits pulling a dry box with no roof fairing. Has 6NZ 2,300 rpm 550/1850 brakesaver file flashed in the ECM. Borg Warner non-waste gated turbo (forgot the #) same turbo as PDI stage 1, M100463 freeflow Donaldson mufflers, PDI extruded honed coated manifold, and last but not least a fuel temp wire. To fully unbridge would need to also install 6NZ cam and pistons which mine are still MBN. I'm happy with the mpg's and power.

Suggest you be patient and keep looking for 6NZ. Upgrading an MBN or tuning an ACERT plus upgrades can easily cost $4,000 or more. I know of people with stock ACERT's who get respectable mpg's (if I had one of those I'd leave stock personally) you will never find an MBN in stock form doing that. MBN's can be found in most '03 trucks and some '04. ACERT's in most '04 and up to '07. Any ACERT manufactured after '07 would make a good battleship anchor worse than stock MBN's. A few '03 trucks have 6NZ check the serial numbers close to make sure what it has.

I will try to get my 2 cents worth in, a reflashed acert with the mufflers replaced or the honey combs nocked out of the bottums will get you into the mid 6's for fuel milage.
what I cann't cash flow with me owning my secound truck is how anybody can afford to buy a truck with over 600,000 thousand miles unless you got the cash in your hand, or it was allready overhauled?
the reason is this you are take a good size risk on the motor, beings a overhaul will cost between $10,000. to $20,000. dollars.
the reason being is most C15s or pick your brand make a millon plus miles if maintained properly but buying a used truck ,most times you have a limited history on the motor.
If you can afford the overhaul, then you can also afford a lower miled unit.
There is a reason you see alot of trucks for sale at 700 to 800 miles because the previous owner thought they where no longer worth the risk!
I have a friend that overhauled his acert with 650 thousand miles on 9 month after he bought it because it had electrolisous (or however you spell it) coolant ate through one of his liners nearly through another even the block was in question.
I am not against old trucks my 2001 w900 that I have now had one point three million on when I bought it for $17,000. dollars it had 400 thousand miles on a Cat overhaul with history 475 1850 18spd, my first2000 w900 I bought had 325 thousand mile on 600 2050 18spd and served me well at that time in my life I had to buy a low mile unit to lower the risk of a catastophic exspence.
Just a friendly bit of advice to consider
Also if you don't mind the looks stick with T600 as fuel saveing are there if you look over the course of the year, my brother drives one.
During the summer on a hot wind still day at 60 mph you will not see hardly any advantage in the winter at 10 degrees and windy I lose mpg faster then him we pull different trailers so its not sience, I have a mid roof with a low sided hopper and he has a stand up with a reefer.
Take your time finding the right truck that fits your needs is also important.
    best wishes
