I worked for Yellow from 2006 to 2008 out of Richfield,Ohio. They were horribly mismanaged back then, hopefully things have gotten better since. I worked a solid 6 months when I was hired, then was laid off for four months, was called back and then promptly laid off two weeks later after doing one Buffalo turn. They called me back over a year later after I took another job. I am now linehaul at UPS Freight and loving it.

Not much changed I guess then. Management at my terminal ONLY like you if your a dirtbag and a slacker, but for the people who do the right thing they **** on. I got an interview today for the pipe fitters union so Im hoping that goes well. MY friends brother works for human resources for my county and is trying to get me into driving for the county.

Although Im on layoff and not making much like I used too, I would rather not return to my terminal. I requested a transfer to the break terminal which is a little further away and I would do Line-haul instead

Out here in southern Cali, UPS and FedEx Freight are a bunch of cut throat jerks that will fire you in a heartbeat! Great pay and benefits but like walking on glass everyday you go to work. I have a few friends that work for them and they tell me all the time. Always complaining. I know that it's not like that at all terminals but it seems to be that way down here.

When I was OTR I picked up and delivered to a lot of different FedEx Freight and UPS Freight yards. Most of the FedEx yards where really cool to me. Had no problems with them and were friendly. UPS on the other hand seemed like they were always trying to complain about something, tight spaces, old yards, people with attitudes. Conway yards were all right, depending where I went. They worked their drivers like slaves though! Saw FedEx working their drivers hard too. Both Conway and FedEx had their drivers on the dock a lot. Don't know about UPS, they were tight lipped and had a lot of rules, I just stayed in the truck.

Man, I think I'm gonna get called back soon. That's 3 weeks straight I worked around 60 hours per week. ($$$ Lovin it) I even get called on my eight at my home domicile. Every terminal I go to is busy as hell too. :Trailer:

Jeez, maybe I spoke too soon. When I got back today, the employee parking lot was 2/3 empty. 7.gif Well, maybe it's because it's Sunday. ?

Might have something to do with the weather. It's really icy up here at 309. Probably wont be much freight moved today

I had to re-register at the BN Railyard the other day. Hadn't been there this year yet, so, I'm guessing that's something you have to do every year? Man, took me forever to find the dang empty I was supposed to pick up. Someone told me if you have a smart phone, you can go to their website and type in the trailer # and they will show where it is on a diagram. ? Will have to try that next time.

Well I'll say FedEx Ground hasn't slowed down much. I wish it would though. Most of this month I have been running 5500 miles per week. The one week I took off they ran 4500 miles. Figures. This last trip was just shy of 6000. Running teams at FedEx is much different than when I was at CF or Watkins. We run 6000+ miles in 5 days. It's getting pretty tough. I miss the solo gig I had. Wish I was getting YRC pay with all the miles I've been running. I'd be a happy guy!
