Ok, I understand that a family emergency is nothing to brush aside but, your in a truck many miles away from home and tell your fm the night before the surgery and expect to make it home in time? Getting you home from where you were that night by friday afternoon was doing pretty good. Many other companies would not have done as well.
TMC is concerned about you and your family but, you have to understand that the trucks don't make money running home empty. I hope your daughter's surgery went well. Good luck to you in the future.

I have been reading every forum I can regarding TMC and I a learning a lot. Especially about orientation. I am getting letters ahead of time for a few surgeries I have had and I am going to go ahead and get a functional capacity eval just in case. Here is the thing I can't crack: I have read a lot of contradicting posts about attrition. One post says 100 show up and only 1 left after two weeks, another says 65 show and 18 left, etc. What is the real deal here? Did 20+ years USN so I know better than to ask a recruiter and have them blow sunshine up my ###.

It's been several years since I went thru orientation, but I do remember that we had about 25 drivers in the experienced group and when we got done, we were down to 12. I don't know what it was like for the new drivers hired from straight from CDL school. I do know they weed them out for various reasons.

I know from working in the industry for many years, that usually only about 10% of a hiring class will still be with the company after one year. And that's any company. That's why companies are always hiring. I worked for a small company and we would hire 4 drivers at a time. I was the one who did the training and usually one would quit in the first week. 2 more would be gone after 6 months and maybe the 4th would still be there after the first year.

Good luck and don't get discouraged. Keep your eyes and ears open and your head down.

Oh, and stay off the grass.

Dont worry about the attrition rate. You dont know and cant control what the other guy is doing. My advice? Treat the two weeks as a job interview,,,because it is. I know there were a few that I went through with that didn't make it the two weeks because they acted like 16 yr olds. Trust me, everyone is paying attention. The staff at the Baymont work for TMC not Baymont. TMC ownes the place. They are reporting who is being a jagdork and who is leaving their rooms like a pigstye. Cant keep your room clean? Probably wont keep the truck clean. BTW, you will share the room with another recruit. If he's being the jagdork, straighten him out or request a different room. Know how to calculate percentage. That killed me on the computer tests.
You are there to learn about TMC and how they operate and they are evaluating you as well.
