Zoo Man, called Tina and sure enough, your info was spot on. Trainees have been sent home and training program suspended. I found it to be slightly inconsiderate and unprofessional that I had to call her to find out about this instead of her calling me, but hey, I guess that's how people are these days. Anyway, thanks again, you probably saved me a huge headache and a lot of regret.

I need some help fast, I drove for star transport out of Morton il.for 5 months and I never really had any problems with them, that was from Nov,2012 to Apr,2012, I left star to do a local job but i'm really wanting to go back to star,I just spoke with Tina and she never said anything about cutting the training program, or losing trucks, she made it sound like every thing was still ok, and that they were still running as all ways,, I was strongly considering going back this month, but after reading turret reveiws i'm having 2nd thoughts, I need some real soild info, does anyone know whets going on up their.

I left there in December. They back dated my insurance 30 days before my last day, which could cost me $3k in dental work done in November. I gave them a 2 week notice, worked it out, and turned in my truck. They put on my DAC that I quit without notice. CSA scores are on a steady decline for the past 12 months.
Solid info? The CSA can be verified. The other information is just my story. This Tina person, who I never met, sounds like your average recruiter, who will relate nothing negative about the company to you. I did meet the old recuriter, Brad. I think he had "Snake Oil Salesman" on his resume. -
She said my dac report was fine, that is why i'm worried, because I quite without notice and I didn't bring the truck back, they had to come get it, i'm worried if I go up their to work for them they might leave my ### stranded

I've seen them do some very questionable things. However, I don't think even they are that petty to bring you up to drive under false pretenses or (pay back). My advice;
- Lots of companies out there. I wouldn't put this one at the top of the list.
- Have a backup plan in case they do want payback
- Get as much as possible documented. Email is good, but paper is better. (set your email to provide a reciept that your email was received)

The times that I spoke directly with Wayne Miller, the safety director, he seemed more interested in beating the fmcsa system rather than conforming. He told of ways to beat this or that, how to contest things, and work arounds. How the DOT wasn't allowed to do this or that. MY impression was that he was more concerned with looking good and covering tracks rather than having safe equipment and drivers. I have seen several instances of drivers being assigned loads that they didn't have the hours to make. (these drivers were all on paper logs). I can only conclude that this is how the company thinks. How to beat the system and make more money. I've been watching their CSA scores. They are consistantly bad and show a trend of getting worse since last July.
I say "Give Em Hell!" Most don't fight the company when unemployeement is denied so they will deny it every chance they get. Make them prove it.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 16, 2013

Star (blue) Nashville has stopped their training program, but I can tell you it sucks to be an O/O for them. Been there 2 months 2 long. I'm looking for another carrier to lease on with.
