I disagree. I have been leased to companies where me and a few others where pissing in the cup every month for over a year. and they had over a 500 drivers. but the 10 or 11 of us got it every month like clock work. I knew every 15th when the phone rang at 1pm it was to go piss. that random computer science crap is faked so badly.

And alot of companies are starting to do the drig test before you even leave to go to them to save on money. Alot of out of work trucker/wheel holders on welfare have to apply for a job or 2 so offten. so the companies where flying or bussing them to the yard putting them up in hotels on to send the back a day or two later. the company could easly loss 500 to 1000.00 bucks each time. so yea i would to if i was in their shoes. a drug test is alot cheaper.

My comment was in reference to what the regs state. There is no reason to believe all companies strictly follow all regs any more than to believe all drivers strictly follow the regs. There is always the possibility of stiff penalties if discovered though.

Not true, its not required by DOT, I have switched companies without having to retake my DOT, all have required a drug test but not the DOT. It seems like the larger companies do require it but not the smaller ones.

the DOT drug test is in the regs. and if you are in a wreck both you and the company are up a creek and wont be able to afford a paddle. I had my own authority and dealt with hiring drivers and what not. I also just setup my friends authority and review the regs. ALL carriers are require to do a pre hire drug test on on commerical motor vehicle operators or any employee who will at some point during the work day operate a commerical motor vehicle.

The pee test is most likely your hired. They don't go to that measure for everyone that walks thru the door. Ever ask why you don't have a truck yet?

Do yourself a favor and forget the state manuals. Read the FMCSR's because that is what you go by if you're OTR. It may say the same thing but no LEO is going to hear your quote GA state laws when you're in another state. Also the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations will specify what random testing is in part 382 and part 40 in the FMCSR's.

Must be something new that the ol'mega-carriers are doing! I've been to many orientations and have never done a UA and physical before attending orientation. Then again you learn something new everyday!

My best advice is to stay away from those companies! Personally I would much rather have my employer be interested in me and my abilities and potential first. Companies that are just piss testing and doing a physical are obviously only interested in keeping their truck seats warm! This is how you will also be treated once you are driving for them!
