Hello all, does anyone know of a great and or good school anywhere in California? I live in Los Angeles but am willing to travel. I am looking for a low instructor to student ratio (1:1?) for the driving portion, small classrooms, job placement assistance, etc. I like so far Sage in Kingman AZ, but I would have to get an AZ CDL, then transfer it back to CA. Sounds like a hassle and possibly illegal? Anyone out there do that? Thanks everyone!
Good and or great school in California?

I went to Dootson in El Monte. No complaints. One on one instruction. Everything else you asked for they have.
-
Thanks. I've been reading your posts. How's it going?

The thing is that most people go to one school only. They have nothing else to compare it to.
Since most of the time we ourselves don't personally know the person reviewing the school, we have no way to tell if they are accurate or delusional. We don't know if they are easily impressed or just a big whiner. There's lots of "reading between the lines" involved.
Also, there are precious few first-hand reports from school graduates within these forums. (lotsa reports from company schools, though) And when you break it down just to schools within your own region there are precious few reviews to go on.
Not a complaint, just an observation. -
Very good point! Any suggestion(s)?

I chose Western-Pacific in Stockton. Haven't started yet.
Either I made a good choice or I am a big, friggin' idiot. Time will tell. -
Maybe both
I will check them out. Why them? -
Because I read reviews here from some guys who graduated from the Modesto campus and now have a thread on this site where they talk about their day-to-day experiences as actual, employed drivers.
Whereas the other school that I serious considered (Western Truck School, Sacramento) had no current graduates/drivers vouching for them in a believable manner. (solicited Facebook testimonials don't count)
Also, I visited those two schools and the difference was night and day.
It's still a crap shoot; and an expensive one at that.Last edited: Feb 18, 2013
