Here at LS pulling a van there really is no way to determine your average weekly take home as your settlement will depend on your ppwrk deadline day and time, what day is your payday, the gross$$ amounts of the loads you submitted, any charges or trip advances you took or have pending, any delayed revenues such a detention, layover, TONU etc. so probably a better way to look at it is month to month. I have had settlements come in as much as $3800 at a time or as little as $6.97 at a time and sometimes if you take time off you will end up owing LS money (redfile).....again, over here you are running a business so a little planning concering cash flow needs to be part of your outlook as well. I have found very few regional or dedicated lanes here...but I don't really go looking for it either.....I know there is dedicated freight here but if you need to be home every Friday most likely that is gonna put a crimp in your earnings potential unless you live in around a real "hotspot" that you can get in and out of with no delays. For vans Greater Chicago area comes to mind, maybe Charlotte, Atlanta, DFW etc. Your goal then would be to find and get in good with agents who can provide you with this type of work!!! Hit the phones as you will have about 2100 agents to choose from....don't be afraid to ask questions and keep good notes.

Of course, eliminating the CPP and Unladen from your settlement is just moving the money from going to LS, to an insurance company.Last edited: Feb 19, 2013

There lies the root of problem. It's take, Take it or leave it or Do it or have your contract pulled. Thanks Rollin that quote sums it up quite well.

Same area. But don't take area as the issue for me. I run where I need to go for best routes. Midwest, etc. Area is not any problem, its the average pay 65% verses all the constant new crap the desk jockeys try to require in the name of safety or masked as Dot compliance or new operations system called work flow, just to justify their desk jockey salaries. When actually without those drivers climbing in the seats, actually doing the REAL work, putting up with all we deal with daily those desk jockeys, from CEO, safety managers, fleet manager, etc. etc. Wouldn't make a dime.
Good luck with it though you will make a living. Schneider will Just make the real profit off the deal. -
From what I understand now you must use the LS/Gallager bobtail/unladen coverage as they have something written into the policy now that basically makes it proprietary and no one else will write it that way.....I shopped around recently and both OOIDA and First Guard said nope, LS will no longer accept their policies for that.....the only thing they could write would be a Physical Damage policy which I've had with OOIDA now for years. The CPP policy of course is the only available choice approved by LS for those living in states where State Workman's Comp policy is not mandatory for the self employed. So LS pretty much has these locked down to Gallagher which if I remember right they own or have a big piece of. You may not be subject to these requirements as you are on an older contract probably like Andy's unless you look to change a coverage, but this is what I find now talking to newbies as well as my own experiences shopping around.
