If you want some bathroom reading material.
Some of the DMV PDFs are a few years old. I put this out for myself and my cousin when we went through TDA.

Wow! It took me 2 days to read this entire thread. My husband and I are thinking about joining Central as newbies in MAY. It's a totallly new thing for both of us: me in marketing for 24 yrs, him as a teacher. Our kids are grown and flown and we're ready to live on the road and save some money. Is that feasible? I mean, can we save money that way? Obviously, we won't have rent, internet, car, etc. to pay anymore. We're pretty nervous and would appreciate any advice.

If you can stand living with him in a walk in closet. Having to get dressed to go use a brightly lit bathroom at a truck stop in the middle of the night. Showering where thousands of others have showered before you... Then yes you can... You will see land and views that will take your breath away!! You will drive in situations that (as our DM quoted) will have you farting foam. You will have challenges, and victories and even some fun! Don't let anyone fool you though, it is work... But go into it with a flexible attitude, and being able to adapt and learn, you can have a BLAST!

LOL! That's just messed up Craig! I know this was almost two years ago but I'm just now reading it. Read you and Anne's Blog a few days ago and now loving these posts as well. My wife and I are planning on starting with Central on April 8th. We've gotta do the whole CDL schooling and everything too so I'm loving all this first hand information. Thank you Klingon, Lady K and Craig and Anne. My wife, Melissa and I sure hope we get to meet you all one day soon. You have all inspired us and we are incredibly excited! Going to be hard waiting another Month to get going! lol

My wife and I are planning on doing the whole thing with Central on April 8th. This thread was awesome and Craig and Anne's blog was amazing. Can't wait to hopefully meet many of you out there on the road! I'm Brett and my wife is Melissa. She's on here as Melohwa. Good luck to you and thank you for all you veterans of the road that are taking the time to post and keep us wannabe's informed!

There is not much of a way to predict who will like it or even do it so my advice is to not sell anything for a while. Store it just in case.

Lady K and NavigatorWife Thank this.

I agree... However if you rent, and don't want to keep the place... Just less $$ going out monthly, and more you're able to save!!

Yes, I was talking about storage et.. no need to maintain a household you can't support. Forget everything you hear about income. Plan on minimum wage for a while. If you have a target income it will drive you crazy the first few years. And truth be told to be able to put up with all the bull if you have a nice comfy place to fall back on you will be back there within a few months. The only reason I made it and wish I hadn't was I didn't have a choice at that time.

Amen!! After two years I would still love to be a homebody, but since I want to keep the house, we have to roll... It's been a struggle, but we are hanging on to it!! And after these two years, I think I've started to like being a 'trucker'... LOL!
