im a refer driver and in the winter its not as bad. A lot of the drivers have their trucks idling anyways so idc where i park bc my refer will prob get drowned out in the noise of the truck nxt door. In summer its about the same but if you are parked nxt to the fuel island it isnt gonna matter; if you are a light sleeper trucks comming in all nite to get fuel will wake you. i do however try to be curteous and either park nxt to another refer truck or one that is already idling. it also depends on what kind of refer unit you have a thermo king is quieter than a carrier. sometimes even i cant sleep when i have a carrier especially the older ones cuz they are so loud i can hear them turn on even when im driving down the road. as for being b@^&*$ about the noise; suck it up cupcake its not gonna change and i know it can suck and be annoying but all i can say is sometimes we cant always choose where we park. especially when it comes to certain times in the nite. if you park nxt to me then that is your own ###### fault. try ear plugs

My thoughts are that if you cant get to sleep at night because of a little noise then you probably didn't work hard enough during the day. I know when I hit the rack that I'm out in about 5 minutes flat regardless of the noise around me.

Back in the day we had butane units, they would have surely enjoyed them. They would run until they got the temp down to its lowest setting, them they would die, & when the temp got back up & keyed the thermostat, the starter would kick in, crank it & it would be running once again, & it would run once again until the keyed the thermostat.

Yes, those units would be pure joy for them during the night.

That's how the contemporary ones still behave when they are set to cycle mode. I try to run mine in cycle if at all possible. Means a $15 fuel bill versus $100+ for 24 hours.

Yep, a lot less money in fuel. My co-driver had to run the unit on continuous at night for a bit when we first started where we are now. He had only run produce one way and dry back for 13 years so he never used to start stop. Every time it shut off he'd wake up and run outside thinking the reefer broke down lol. After a couple of months he finally got used to it though.

I have only turned my laptop on 4 times in 14 days besides printing out load sheets, if you see me on here most times it is my cell service and not much time for internet. LOL

    I do agree with you.
