I would much prefer parking next to a "glowing" truck than a noisy one. But even when I choose to park waaaayyy back I am still a reefer magnet...can't win.

Steady, constant, low frequency sound will tend to induce sleep. And the noise levels will be well below dangerous thresholds for those inside their sleepers.

I'd hope that anyone trying to sleep in a truck stop parking lot would be doing so inside the sleeper of their truck. I pull a dry van, by the way, and I tend to sleep better next to a constantly running reefer. Those that start / stop are a bit more disturbing, but aren't extremely problematic once I get settled in.

    Can't Win anyway.
I had one of our older Trailers with an Old (Loud UniT) parked next to a Prime in Colby at the Pilot.
He said some choice words on the CB and pulled up a few Feet.

When I came back to my truck noticed his light was off, so he probaply had a dry load or was MT.
I try but can't please everybody.

Very rarely do I spend a night in my truck, but when I do, I put the reefer on continuous. Easier to sleep than having it on start/stop, for myself and neighbors.

I think walking through a truck stop parking lot is like walking through a feed lot in the meat patch.......

So you're parking at a TRUCK STOP. Trucks make noise, and trucks pulling reefers make more noise. And anybody with a Rig Master APU makes even more. It's a TRUCK STOP! Not a "quiet zone." If you are so discomfited by a little noise, go somewhere else!!!
