I am an adult, and adults plan for big events in their lives instead of being broadsided by life. If I know what to expect and then it comes is it good for me to be prepared or foolish for me when it happens if I am not prepared? Thanks for the nonhelpful comment. if its a joke like i know is coming then trucking is big man business, lives are on the line every day. Time to grow up, especially when people are giving up their lives to follow a dream like trucking. All I am saying is if you are reading these threads and still make the jump, dont complain if you are one of the ones who feels wronged, you knew what you were getting into. Again thanks, I am proud to work where I work. Why hate that? It beats being broke and depending on others when I am fit to work for myself. Later *end rant*hairytruckerswife and Bigdubber Thank this. -
Just put my application in for mentorship. So now I'm waiting for a response back in the days ahead!

Good fn lord...for the sake of humanity someone needs to off the idiots in charge at Swift.
NOBODY should be training new drivers unless they have a minimum of 5 yrs experience.Joetro and DriverToBroker Thank this. -
Remember I didn't have ANY experience at all driving when I started and here I am so what's worse sending a guy out who know nothing by himself or send some one with a few months experience out? I do my job well. And safe. I know enough to say I don't know it all but I haven't hurt anyone out all by myself. And I haven't wrecked into anyone on the interstates or on a parking lot or at a shipper and or receiver, but you have drivers with years of experience doing so everyday so yeah...

Look, Newtrucker48, don't take this personally because it's more a statement about what's wrong with the idiots in charge than it is about you or your capabilities.
New drivers should not be training new drivers...
Swift and the other cheap pricks, like the Englands, Werners etc.. love to use this practice because it gets them the meat for their seats...cheap.
And that's the only thing they're concerned with...cheap labour. -
But 6 months is not long enough to start mentoring. You will be preparing somebody for a career in trucking and you just don't have the experience to draw on to make them as successful as possible. Sorry if you don't agree..but there is more to being mentor than making sure a newbie can drive forward and backup without hitting anything.snafu Thanks this. -
Well guys if you don't like the idea of me training make sure the next time two new drivers want to team together out of school y'all pounce on them and say no y'all should wait until 5 years to team because you guys are both new and y'all don't have what it takes yet to be together, teaching each other, learning from one another, watching each others back. Oh and make sure the next time someone says they desire to come out here on the roads that they better have 2+ years on the road before they get behind the wheel and drive a big rig down America highways.
If you guys have actually followed my journey you would know I don't jump into stuff without planning and thinking and soul searching. By your own standards teams should not exist with two newbie drivers. Im not doing this for money, I make enough solo, I rather know there is someone out there that I know is safe and does things by the book than someone being trained by someone who just wants a check and treat newer drivers like crap. I know my capibilties and I know my limits thanks. I rather have new guys out there who park the truck when that limit is reached than keep going and kill a family because they were taught to run, run, run regardless of sleep. Being new at something makes me more cautious and safe than someone who has years and have gotten lazy behind the wheel. New drivers need to know these things and im willing. New drivers are not the ones killing and hurting more families than the I've done this fer years guy who thinks he knows it all and who and what should be behind the wheel of a truck and when they should. -
If I had my way...team driving would be banned. Nobody gets a proper rest when the truck is moving.
