@ TransPortHER - What company did you all end up with? We saw that you left Covenant and wondered what happened

    HEY nightrider57
We did leave Covenant Transport. We left for a variety of reasons. Most notably was the unprofessional behavior stretching from upper management to dispatch. We tried very hard to make the best of it, even putting positive spins on my blog which at times was quite difficult.
    The GOOD?

We happened to get a great trainer! In this respect, we were fortunate. We also had a good truck. And the breakdown department was very good at handling the emergencies that came about. We also have to note that there were quite a few on the payroll in the corporate building that really did take to heart and apply the "I commit to care" slogan.
    The BAD?

Well, it started with a manager there at Covenant who was not too keen on my posting here on the forum. He noted the comment I made early on about the "communication" problems we observed. His method of addressing this?
He called my 75 year old father. Why you might ask?
Well, that was my question too! This manager had my cell number readily available to him. The only place I had my father's personal cell number listed was on my emergency contact form. His number was listed only for an emergency type situation. This did not constitute an emergency. The manager informed my father that he was calling him to let him know that he would be calling me. So why would he go about this in such a manor?
    Our Conclusion?
Intimidation. And my dad, (being ex military) did not take to kindly to it. He actually encouraged me to keep posting about our Covenant experience. And I did. To be promptly followed by a female dispatcher who was instructed to tell us that she could force us to do anything she wanted us to do on her truck!
This came about on our very first home time request after being over the road from Sept. 28, 2011 to well into 2012 (working straight through ALL the major Holidays) .
Upon our home time request, we were informed that very few loads went to Florida, but they did have ONE load we could take to get home. It came with the stipulation that we had to take a male driver with us on our truck to our home town. I voiced my concern about this. It was not right that we had conditions of this nature placed on us in order to go home to see our family.
The problem was, this young female dispatcher was simply doing as instructed. And this was pretty much the scenario of each dispatcher there. I could see the fear in their eyes of heads rolling if they didn't follow orders. So we tolerated this attitude pretty much the entire year. It was a year of counting down until our time was done.

The final straw for me was a MAJOR issue of safety and our settlement sheets not reflecting what was contracted.
Two of the most important issues to consider if others are thinking of teaming with this company.
We really want to move on from any more discussion about Covenant.
We are doing very well now and our pay?...
right on, as agreed. We are treated with respect and nobody's calling my daddy. At this point, I just giggle over that. i mean... who does that?
I will send you a personal PM nightrider57. And I wish you and your husband truly good things.
