He's full of himself. No driver has that kind of pull in a company.

To the Op , Get off of that truck at your 1 chance. Once you've dropped a load or live unloaded go directly to the nearest airport , bus terminal or car rental agency and quit....you won't be consider to be "under dispatch" yet so you'll be OK. Just tell your boss or dispatcher what's been going on , and you're not gonna let that dirt-bag kill you..(texting and driving). So what if you are unemployed for a bit...you will be alive and free to go on and get a real job. Idiots like that guy are a disgrace and you DO NOT have to put up with his crap...way too many other places that will treat you better. Good Luck.

Also, does your cell phone take pictures silently? Snap a pick from the bunk when he is driving and texting. BOOM! Gotcha! :biggrin_255:

Follow the advice. I had the same issue when I first started training at my present company, and my trainer said the SAME things. Its a scare tactic and he is full of crap, she said the same things to me. go to saftey AND your DM, that way neither can ignore what is said if they are so inclined. They end up holding each other accountable, especially if you make certain that they both know that you have gone to the other person.

When the issues with my trainer came to light...the ONLY question my managers asked was "WHY did you wait so long to say something?" They were great about everything, pulled me out of the truck, quick fast and in a hurry.

A good company takes that stuff seriously.

If your company does not, or shrugs your concern off...that tells you right away what kind of company your with...

incidentally...your career is NOT in his hands. Do not allow him to persuade you otherwise! More scare tactics.

Translated: "I'm afraid you've caught on to what a lying bag-o-#### I am,so I will try to use scare tactics to stop you from reporting me". I will GUARANTEE you this guy has as much stroke within the company as a broken piston. Get out now,and take the chitbag down when you do. Anybody texting while driving anything down the highway is bad news, let alone 80,000 lbs at 70+ mph. Good luck and hang in,as it'll get better for you 2.:biggrin_25525:

You might want to try and document things as back up. Driving hours for everyone, pictures like other have said, etc...He probably is only important in his head and just a number to the company.
I didn't know any companies trained with three to a truck.

As stated before, get off that truck. Report him. This guy has no business driving a CMV, period, let alone being a trainer.

1: Don't believe everything a truck driver tells you. You'll meet countless millionaires, ex-Navy SEALs, Rhodes Scholars, etc. during your travels. I remember one driver saying, "Less than 500 SEALs served in Vietnam - and I've met all 2500 of them!". Yeah, the fishing stories are like that.
2: Your future in this career field, as well as your lives, are on the line here. If the company stands behind him, then #### that company! They'll be closing their doors soon enough. Any company willing to tolerate that is not worth your time.
3: You have a cell phone? Does it have a video feature? Try to discreetly catch him on camera. Back yourself up any way you can.
