cali is the one i don't trust the most. i've heard you can get inspected just for having dirt on the caps on tankers. don't be driving the 5 with dirty caps.

The speed for me is not that big of an issue. Just set the speed for 62 in the high desert and 58 in the more urban areas and the CHP won't even know you are there.

run up around the bay area and find out how many scales are around there and they are building a brand new super coop with enclosed bays looked to be about seven bays going east on 80 by cordelia. i have been thru atleast four scales in 250 miles in bay area alone. and thats just going in and down to salinas. I have had level ones in both wash and oregon and cali and would rather take a level 1 in wash or oregon before a cali and that guy in the eastbound st. goerge scale can be a stickler on brakes tried saying my brakes on trailer where bad the same week after banning did lvl 1 on me and passed me and gave me a sticker said he didnt care about that wrote me up for trl brakes 1/16 out of adjustment.

I would rather deal with AZDOT than CHP any day. But I have been dispatching for about 33 years, I only drove for about 5 years. So you think AZ is that bad? My drivers here don't complain much about them.

In my lifetime I've only been given two roadside DOT inspections, both in Arizona.

I just did a 16 wide 110 long load to San Diego from Phoenix. I saw AZDOT "enforcement" vehicles all over Arizona. NOT ONE CHP in California the whole way there and back (including Winterhaven). As soon as I crossed back into AZ on my way home, AZDOT was everywhere.

Yup in 25 years trucking...I have more fingers on my hands then times I've been inspected by the DOT. I told this to the head lady at a company I used to work for when she was trying to terrify everyone about the coming CSA and she said that I needed to stop and ask to have my truck inspected more often....I was like, are you nuts lady?
