Chosing the right flatbed company to start off with?

    The last thing that I be worried about is what transmission they use. I have ran five speed macks to 18 speed Peterbilt. My number one concern would be pay, condition of equipment, and home time.

    I work for PGT. I started out with them in November and I am very happy. I was in the army and I was looking for a good first company as well. I make around 1000+ a week and you can get home weekly if you want to. I have a thread detailing my whole search for a company taking you all the way through orientation and training as well as my first couple months with them. we have a lot of freight in your area. The closest terminal to you would be Birmingham and I know we have a freight broker in Paducha. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I will tell you this company knows you by name and when you have any issues they will help you. I just had a baby two weeks ago and they made sure I was home on time and they gave me all the time I wanted off to be with my family. They rented me a car to take home when I was there during Christmas. Just let me know if there is anything you want to know about.

    Man. . . A future recruiter in the making here. The only big plus for you and TMC is they have a big customer up the road in Cincinnati at LaFarge. It is sheet rock but it pays us #### good when I go in there. That would be your hometime card right there.

    Now that is ALL that I would say good about TMC, since I've not worked for them, and there is enough on here to get a good feel for them. But haven't I seen them guys pulling RGNs and steps also?

    Yep, we have a fleet of about 100-120 specialized trucks. We also have a boat division. We haul a lot more then sheet rock out of his area. Lots of steel and shingles also.

    Hey milskired, I'm a retired Marine and 39 yrs old with a wife and 2 daughters. I haven't been to a trucking school as of yet, but I'm having a hard time deciding between TMC and Maverick. I've never driven a truck before so Maverick with their auto's are appealing, but then TMC letting veterans use their GI Bill for 18 months is also good. My biggest concern is the money I will be making. I live in Carmi, IL which is in the southern part of the state so im sure I could have good hometime with both. I've been to both companies websites, read forums, threads etc and I just can't seem to make a good decision for me and my family. Any good info you got for me would be great.
