As i started orientation for USA at the Forest Park,Ga. terminal in Feb. I was excited about the .39 cpm plus the 5K sign on.
Unfortunately, they had a full orientation class, and 3 trucks on the yard that looked like losers in a demo derby, the one parked out back that was burnt to the ground looked like the best one. Most of the drivers were students waiting to be picked up by their trainers. Seems as how they don't allow driver to park personal vehicles on the property without the threat of being towed. i had to drive back to S.C. with my car loaded with my gear, and have a dear friend drive me to Charlotte, N.C. to a tow lot to p.u. my assigned abandoned truck, which seemed like a better alternative than the rest of the poor souls that were pilled into rental cars to parade around the country to retrieve their abandoned trucks. When we got to the junk yard in Charlotte, after we finished laughing at that piece of trash, we made plans to stop for dinner on the way home. Mon. USA instructed me to pack light, bus back to Atl. they will have me a truck by then, "WE PROMISE" and will route me through home to p.u. my gear, to them, home meant via Ohio, and then the northeast, in a truck that had no heat, or a working APU in a truck that doesn't idle.
So in 3 mos. they usually sat me all day, at 3pm would call me about a hot load that had to be picked up in 10 min. and delivered 300 miles overnight. Keep in mind they run paper logs, and if the truck doesn't sit completely still for 10 hour, i mean 10, not 9.75, they will call you, tell you the next time it happens you are fired, and shut you down for another 10 hrs. this happened to me, i know that sounds extreme but if you consider the trouble their in with the D.O.T., for instance their C.S.A. score is soooo bad, the D.O.T. issued USA an immediate order to pull off and disable all the scale "PRE-PASS" units because they need to be seen at every scale. USA also uses EZ-PASS for toll in the trucks but if you use them in OH. or IN. it comes out of your pay...... Bottom line is ive been there 3 months ave. 1700-1800 miles wkly and clear btw. 370.00 and 420.00 wkly. when i told dispatch that i have to quit because i can't afford to work here any more, i was threatened that if you don't work out a two week notice we will "Trash your DAC"....... no prob. my two weeks is almost up, Whew!

You have 30 years experience and .39 cpm with a 5k sign on sounded good to you?
I hope this doesn't come across as me ragging on you because that is not my intent. I'm just wondering if you have a messed up DAC or driving record so you chose USA?

Thank you for posting your experience and giving a warning about USA Truck

man I would've left as soon as they told me my car would be towed if I parked it at the yard...that's just so wrong, you can work there but not park you pov there without it getting towed...that is messed up!!!

300 miles is roughly about 5 hours. you cant make an overnight run in 5 hrs? even if you b/s at the truckstop, you still should have no problem bumping the dock on time...just sayin...

    This!

I guess bottom feeder carriers attract bottom feeding drivers.

I read on another usa thread that they charge the drivers $2 a week for pre-pass...money must be tight there...I wouldn't be surprised someday to hear that they start charging drivers to fuel!!!
