Some ? I don't recall any and working a year is a big if . Ever get statistics on how many don't make it ?
WOW , a whopping $600 a week for 70+ hour weeks . the + is because he is not riding along but team driving doing the same work as the trainer for 4 to 6 weeks at half the pay . If a driver is competent no more than a week or two of training is necessary .

It is a good way to get your foot in the door and on the road. I did something similar to get my license, went through my current emploer. But I've also been waiting on an open truck for a year... I kept getting told that the top heavy live haul trailers were too dangerous. Yet the trailers I do get to pull are just as top heavy, if not more so, also been driving a tanker which the only training i recieved was being told to scale in and out, that was it. Thus the reason I'm looking for a new job. Way too many politics and favoritism crap going on here.

More like because running local and running all 48 are two different things that require different knowledge.

Not really. Driving locally is more demanding, but it's still the same job.

Still two different things, and a year of local means nothing if one tries to go OTR. Not saying it's right, just the way it is.

You aren't wrong. I know this already. It's what mainstream carriers insurance policy came up with, and I think it's stupid.

I personally don't get what they think is so different about otr vs. local driving.

I do both and it all kind of seems the same other then I have to pick up my atlas or type some address into my gps for otr.

I agree. I run in 4 states, I have to log, and I cross scales, but somehow my experience doesn't count because I have a window behind my head instead of a bed. It's total bs.

I agree that it's stupid. Local drivers are more often better at handling traffic, backing into docks (if reefer or van), and most other aspects of trucking as well. I'd rather put a driver with local experience in the seat than an OTR driver with the same amount of experience.
