Blazer1 you do realize that at a union grocery warehouse 95% of the time the lumpers are unloading your truck. And lumpers aren't union. You have a problem with the lumper service not the union employees in the warehouse. Most of the time the union employees are the receivers and the ones putting stuff away in the warehouse.

union people anywhere are the absolute worst...they have such an inflated sense of entitlement..I worked for new penn as a casual dockworker as one point..15 minute breaks turned in to 30-45 minutes...Are you kidding me? I will be homeless and destitute before I accept any job that requires union membership as a condition of employment.

Two of the three Walmarts I used to hit were OK. But that one! Oh, that one made up for the other two, by far. We used to do a lot of appliance delivery. Factory direct to the home. But we had a company policy that prohibited us from going inside any residence. If they had a garage, we could leave it there, but we flatly did not go inside. Who cares if they like it or not! If they want it brought in and set up, then they can spend the money to buy from a retail store that offers that service.

Some job sites were great to deliver to. Actually, most of them were at least OK. But we had a lot of new golf courses going in here back when I was driving. And we carried a lot of hydroseed. They never had fork lifts available, so it was tail gate and break down the pallets, then pass the bags out to the grounds crews.

The place that absolutely hated to go to though, was that HAZCHEM plant out west of Cedar City. This is the place that used to be down in Henderson, NV, until they had a major accident and got kicked out of the town, the county, and the state. So of course, good old Iron County, Utah, says "Come on up!" "Shoot, we'll even give you tax breaks to relocate here."

Getting in and out of that place was always a PITA. Then they had one guy who worked in shipping that flatly did not understand the placard laws. In fact, the only thing he understood was, "If you don't have the placards, and give them to me first, I'm not opening the trailer for you to load. If you have a problem with that, call your company safety officer."

They insisted on long pants, (in an area where everyone wears shorts in the summer,) and big rubber overshoes over your foot wear. Problem was, they never had anything big enough to go over my boots.

Good for you. I don't understand your statement about an inflated sense of entitlement. You only wish you had it as good as one of us union members.

nice try big guy. But I stand by my statement. We can agree to disagree, we are all adults here. :). You are pro union and thats cool. I wouldnt want a union member to pee on me if I was on fire in an attempt to save my life.

@BIG DON we are not allowed inside the house as well. We can put it in the garage, or even just in the front door if we were able too. Im just saying you get those rich snobs who expect a 10 star delivery service... Greenwich was the worst about it al the time!

Union job sites were ok. Theyd come out to the truck, break all the pieces down and take it off themselves or assist me if I had a lift-gate and was heavy. The non-union places were the ones who didnt do anything but just sit around watching, no matter how much I was struggling.

As far as wal-mart the other two we had no problems. This one had a one bay door, the recievers were the laziest POS youd ever meet, only one door, gave you a ton of attitude, do one thing wrong they scream at you like your trash... When I was at FedEx Ground going there I was actually banned from there becuase I was the only one who stood up for myself and called them out... And those heavy boxes that were just thrown into the truck that weighed 150 pounds they wouldnt even give you a hand, normaly the wal-mart driver would see me struggling and jump in to help me with it, he even told them off as well

Have to agree with you. We delivered to a place that wasnt union and they had lumpers as well. Forjust 3 pallets the lumper would take 3-5 hours, easy ones as well because the boxes were big. If they were small tiny tiny boxes I wouldnt of minded as I know it would be longer... But for 3 skids with huge boxes I mean come on... I didnt care as I was paid hourly but I kept having to hear my dispatcher every 20 min

Walmart, Hospitals, prisons and oil/petroleum refineries (there's a LOT of those down here). Must have TWIC card, be escorted, etc. Worse than entering a military base!
