our company just downsized. due to strictly running by the book. 20 our of 35 drivers left.

if they don't figure out a strategy, that company of 25 years will be no more.

If I wanted to sell pot vs. ice cream, I'm sure the first option would be much more lucrative.
So no, it doesn't make more money. It will level out when the transition is complete - sort of. Because technology can be exploited too. It's just not as easy.Dinomite Thanks this. -
they want everyone "on the same playing field" so they can squeeze up freight and then pay all of us $5/hr
its the short-sightedness of drivers that is the saddest part of this entire discussion
it has nothing to do with safety, it has nothing to do with legality, it has to do with monitoring, controlling and dominatingfreedhardwoods Thanks this. -
Not only that how are they going to keep track of all the renegade truckers in a controlled and moderated industry. Before a trucker could go from point a to point b and no one would know how he really got there; with eobr and tracking capabilities they know where you are and how you got there. How can the government keep up with you in the future.

So, you are incorrect. It is all about safety and legality. You are basing your conspiracy theories on running for bottom feeder carriers and not growing a pair of stones and finding a good paying job.
They are out there. If you are a good driver, you can make good money. I put a snapshot up of some of my paystub from last week - I'm not posting my personal information online and it doesn't show the mileage stuff or the run destinations. I made that money in 67 hours/6 days.
I'm not being "used" to my own peril. I had a steak last night ( which is a rare treat because I shy away from too much red meat ) and I paid for it with the sweat of my brow.
My carrier has their cheap moments thanks to the bean counters. Nobody is perfect. But they invest in their people because what we do is a little more complicated than swinging a set of rear doors.
I know guys that do liquid cryogenic stuff for Air Products that have been there for 5 years and are pulling 90K. On eLogs with governed trucks.
I understand that there are carriers that use the WalMart approach to treating their people. Beat them down, and keep them hungry. It's a simple solution, don't work for them. If people voted with their feet, the bottom feeders would eventually dry up and go away.Attached Files:

Man..I drive for one of the biggest carriers and they are on e-logs. If they are trying to drive down rates, I don't see it. Made 61k last year. Look to make more this year. Money is there is you are willing to work for it....
BTW....I work M-F only....BossOutlaw88 Thanks this. -
Here's what I can say.... I run paper logs only....no e logs.... I make 5 times as much money driving my 70mph truck on paper logs thsn I did with the former big carrier driving a 62mph on elogs... ijs creative logging call it what you will....I roll
-
So with me with my mega carrier on e-logs...you make $300,000 a year??? naahhhhhh
So maybe you only made $30,000.....times five.....that means you make $150,000 a year?????
Doubtful....go back to school "Student"...SmoothShifter Thanks this. -

The more days you take off the less money you bring in also.
