    not running 600 mile days

only hurts the paper guys that need to run 800 to live

I dont show sleeper berth anymore. ever since dot shut me down (no ticket or anything just a new line on my log) for coming into the cab while on sleeper berth to start my truck and smoke a cig 15 6 hours into my 10 and required me to show 15 minutes on duty which at that time and as far as i know still required a change of status whereas off duty you can leae the sleeper....

They must have a different system than that cause they can't edit their logs whatsoever.

And if they've used their amount of off duty driving allowed via the E log system, they can't just go anywhere without being in violation.

Again, it's obvious each system or company runs their E Logs different. Glad you like yours but I'm am completely against having a virtual babysitter in my truck. Whether it changes the way I drive or not is beside the point. I'm just completely against being watched like that. And IMO, that's what these are. They take decision making away from the driver. Granted, some of the idiots companies put on the road today need to have their hands held. I don't. And I won't. I'll fight it every step of the way and even afterwards.

What sucks, is I never get violations. Seem to have a magnet for road side inspections this year and every one of them have been good. Even the log book lady in the office finds no errors and each month I get that little bonus for perfect logs. But whenever I finally have to succumb to this bs, I'm sure I'll get my share of violations.

I've never had an accident. I've had one violation due to trailer being over weight a few years ago. Gauge was faulty and I didn't know until I rolled over scale. I'm not an unsafe driver. But because some bureaucrat somewhere says all drivers are idiots and need to be controlled more, I'll eventually get this crap forced on me. It's not right. But......

Ok well I am sorry Rick as I don't have to worry about the miles in order to get my pay. That sure would suck to have to run 600+ miles a day in order to make pickup and delivery appointments. Again the majority of drivers CAN NOT drop and hook so yes they must sit at docks or mills waiting to unload. Real drivers realize there is a better life then running some company truck having to push 600+ miles daily to turn a buck.

Oh thank QC when you retire shortly. I understand you are tired of QC and getting out. Take care.

The question of E-log is not whether or not it can hurt me. (which it will since I run short loads) but the fact I do not need the #### thing. I do my job and do it without any need for a babysitter. So far all I have heard is paper guys saying how they run 500 or less miles per day and E-log guys bragging about running 600+. Who is trying to run 800 to live? Paper is proven to be safer.
