My Sunday beeps always have insane OOR because I'm usually still on a load then lol, and the miles you run are counted OOR until you send in an empty call.

This past Sunday had me at 7.09 mpg and 27.89 OOR. But I had gone about 700 miles on a 1100 mile run, so when it sent the beep it thought that those 700 miles were OOR. Unless things fall just right and I get empty on a Saturday, I usually have to MSG my FM to get my exact OOR reading. As of Friday it's hovering at 6.4%

Early in a new quarter the OOR is way off because of what you just said. As you get more mile that number starts to come down. Most our loads in flatbed are shorter 500 - 600 miles so it doesn't make much difference.

How much fuel have you been adding each week?

i was told by a Maverick driver of 5 plus years that all you gold star guys add fuel to get those kind of numbers.
I just agreed and when on with what I was doing. You can't fix stupid so no reason trying!

Excellent numbers by the way, Sarge might be in trouble.

I'm curious about this too, because there ain't no way you're actually getting 7.8 out of these trucks if you're fully loaded near 80,000. Now, I can get about 7.5 if I have a light load of about 25,000, and if I have a really light one under 15,000 and good flat ground to run on I can get pretty close to 8. But even on good ground at 80,000 I don't see how you can get 7.8 actual, unless you guys know something I don't.

Additive and SLOW DOWN. You'd be amazed what just a couple MPH will do. You can't for one day expect to get those kind of numbers...it's an everyday process.

Load weight has very little to do with MPG....Even at 92,000 lbs. gross I can get nearly 6 MPG....oversize, from GA to somewhere in the boondocks of PA....but with a 26,000 lb. spayer, I'm lucky to get 5 MPG most of the time.

Its all in how you drive the truck...and where you're driving it....sometimes slower is better, other times its best to let gravity and momentum help you along.

I noticed on the seniority list at Gary that us CNH (heavy haul) guys have as good or better fuel mileage than about 90% of the fleet.

Mine is currently at 6.3....drive easy, don't idle, use additive (I like Howes Meaner Power...not the winter stuff), work with the forces of nature (wind) when you can and learn how to make the best of it when you can't (slow down).

As for adding fuel...there was a time when you could do that and not get caught...that time has passed, don't do it.

Learn about wind resistance, know which way the wind is blowing...and how to make the best of it.

"No officer, I'm perfectly sober. I'm backing down the interstate because of the direction the wind is blowing. I really need to get 7.5 mpg for my fuel bonus, and I have big mirrors, I can see just fine!"

Haha anyways, good advice though. Do you guys know what additives are supported by Maverick, as in the ones where if my engine explodes they won't blame it on me? Lol.

Lately I've cut back to driving 63, and that worked really well in my old truck, gave me about half a mpg even on hilly roads like I44. But in this one I can't get it above 60 if I'm on anything but flat ground or a downhill grade. But several people told me its a software problem which I'm gonna try to have them fix as soon as I get through NLR again. It still getting about 7.0, which isn't bad, but my old one was averaging out to about 7.4 or so, and I'd like to hit that number again.
