Whatever. Be that as it may, those people who think they have some "right" to go up into the 10 Meter band are quite mistaken if they think the authorized users of that band are going to sit still for it. The FCC DOES respond to their complaints. Those "hall monitors", as you put it, are not down ON 11 Meters bothering YOU, but the drivers (mostly) go up into 10 Meters where they don't belong. Right or wrong according to the objectors, the RIGHTFUL, LEGAL users of 10 Meters WILL seek out those illegal stations (and they are durn good at it, too!) and turn them into FCC in a skinny minute! That may not be what people want to hear, but it is simply the truth of the matter! Stay OFF 10 Meters if you don't have the license for it, and the "hall monitors" won't bother you! Simple!

Again.....Gadfly, I thank you for your suggestions not your threats. If you read my original post you would find a driver looking for tips and suggestions on how to correctly use a Connex.

Your suggestions would be received better without the threats and whining.

    Regards,
    Laure

Sorry, but I was responding to "medicine man" and his remarks about "hall monitors". It was not intended towards you.

without getting too technical, how do the hams locate or triangulate the source of mobile transmiters operating outside their range of permitted usage? I can see maybe if the offender is sitting in some truck stop for a few hours leaking into 10 meter, but how about some guy traveling down the road?

How can some hams, unless they too are mobile on the roads, make an ID of the offender?

This all amounts to a bunch of whiney tattle tells .
Most of the time telling on themselves its really quite distressing when you look at it.
And yes im refering to the hams.
Just reading through the fcc actions one cannot help but think a large amount of hams are rat tattle tells.
    Whom tell on other hams
seriously these people need to take a breath these fines and govt interference most be annoying
I c theyr preparing for a career of driving a semi they like to whine too.
meanwhile watching you tube i learned how to make BeEr and thermite.
    Im all about learning:biggrin_2559:

Well one of the reasons we do police our selves is so the Ham Bands don't get like the CB. If we don't Police our selves it will wind up just like 11 meters did as soon as we turned it over to the CB gang. Oh you didn't know the 11 meter band was once part of the Ham Bands yes it was just like 10,12 meters are today. So you are surrounded by the Ham Bands so play all the silly games you want in 11 meters just stay out of the Ham Bands till you can pass the test and demonstrate your knowledge of the rules and the theory that goes with the privilege to transmit on those bands. We have another group of folks call O/O's or Official Observers and it is part of there job to listen observe and report violations to the enforcement division so that we can maintain some sort of order on the bands we worked so hard to get the privileges to operate on. So don't knock what you don't know and claim to know all about it because you read a little on some web site. The Net is not the end all to end all on knowledge it is a good reference tool i use it every day but it does not replace a good elmer at all. And just so you will know an elmer is one that teaches the correct ways to young or new Hams so they do know the proper way of doing things and help them study for all those test they need to take.

i fell in love with cb, its awesome ive got my set up real nice and all.... but their are so many #### annoying people on it, thats why ive moved to side band. much betterm, real nice people everyone is curtious to each other, everyone ignores the ***holes so they leave, everyone exepts how ever you want to talk, either with q codes or plain english. everyone explains everything, and people help each other out. its like ham, with out the tests, and with out the certain hams that think they are better cuz they have a piece of paper. I VERY rarely use a.m. anymore. i just dont want to listen to it.

    I hear you!:biggrin_25519:
I fell in love with CB at a young age, being that everyone in my family had a CB, I will keep up the family tradition as long as I am able too. There are still alot of good CB operators out there.
