If you are talking about a car, I can see it, if you are talking about coming aside a big truck with your pickup and him running up 10 mph the only thing I can say is, you ran into a jack ###.

and then your signature-"Wealth is the product of man's capacity to think." ~ Ayn Rand

I am using your red to stress that you are not thinking there Boy.all trucks set at the same speed would mean a constant cluster, enraged 4wheelers,no opportunity to merge for either trucks or cars,no JIT freight, even worse economic conditions due to the inability to actually get the goods where they needed to be,and more highway deaths derived from the increase in shootings generated from the motoring public.

the motoring public would perform more drive-by shootings into the cabs of the slow trucks that take 12 miles to pass another slow truck.

dang.curious as to why that has not started already-

My truck is ungoverned so this happens to me a lot. When I pass someone going a similar speed I bump the accelerator a bit to pass quickly. When I come off onramps, I will let the trucks that moved over pass me before I get to cruising speed and wait til I can get back around them. I also back off a touch if someone passes me slowly or loses momentum on a hill. All in all this doesnt cost me any time on my trip, its courteous and makes everyones ride go smoother.

omg...what??? enraged public shooting at trucks...okay well I'm sure if that was going to happen on a widespread basis, it would have already happened by now.

Here is how I see it. If the speed limit is 65, I go 65. In the right lane. If someone is passing me slowly, if they get neck and neck with me, I'll tap the break and let them get over. But you have to realize, if you're going over the speed limit, I am not going to accommodate you, because I would feel that I'm an accomplice in your crime. I'm not going to slow down for you, I'm not going to flash my lights for you, and if there are 3 lanes and I'm in the middle, I'm not going to move to the right just so you can break the law.

A lot of people in this forum keep talking about going 70-75, well ok, fine, if the speed limit is that, then fine. But going through Arkansas, it's 65. If you're going over the speed limit, you don't have any room to talk. And AR is a cluster muck anyways. Way too much truck traffic. I think it would be safer if everyone just stayed at the speed limit, that way, no one would need to pass. Cars would be freed to use the left lane, and if someone was governed slower than 65, just wait until the lane clears, then get over. That's what I do. I don't cut off cars to pass someone. I might jump out in front of a speeding semi if he/she were far enough away that they'd have plenty of time to slow down.

No JIT freight? Whatever. There are many companies that book JIT freight or have contracts for JIT freight that have trucks governed somewhere around 65. There is no reason why one should have to break the speed limits just to get there in time. If you have to do that, then you're doing something wrong.

Oh and one more time - if trucks were all governed at the same speed, then trucks would not have to pass each other, that's the whole point. It would not clog up the roads. I, for one, would feel safer.

And btw it disturbs me that you would think cars would start shooting into the cabs of trucks - what on Earth would make you think something like that? Has it happened to you before? Or have you shot at a truck before from your car? Or do you think people are really that sick that they would do something like that on a large scale?

nah.i generally opt to hit the high dollar lane and stay stress free or pass on the right.either way i do get around the ##%^^## idiot impeeding traffic flow in the truck hammer lane.let another individual deal with the slow drivers lack of courtesy.

i am NOT advocating that 4 wheelers shoot but you can't deny that they don't get furious being stuck behind two slow moving, drag racing, flow impeeding, uncourteous,no side mirrored drivers that run 60-65 in the left lane or the truck hammer lane.just watch how they begin to drive after a few miles.VERY aggressively-

that certainly was a drawn-out and guilt laden post.you drive 65 because that is all your bossman allows you to no matter the speed limit. just simplify things and do as the law states on the numerous signs along any multi-lane highway regardless of the posted speed limit-SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT.REAL traffic cops will deal with the speeders and hopefully very soon the traffic impeeders.Georgia has such a law now and it is being enforced.your other attempts to chide me were futile and self evident answer wise-

oh yeah-true JIT freight is not shipped on 65 mph big company trucks unless that is all that can be utilized/contracted at the time.there is a real rate differential between service providers and mobile warehousing.
