Actually, to the best of my knowledge (which in this area is pretty accurate) the current broker contract is an 88/12 split. Landstar takes 12% off the top and the agent is left with 88% to split between him and the carrier to negotiate the rate with. Whatever they can get is what they get. BCO's remain the same.

    Ranger Bob Thanks this.

Now if I'm not mistaken....You agents have to hustle up your own contracts...LS just provides some of the resources correct? LS isn't providing you the agent, with customers per se right?

What some people miss here is that a broker or an agent is doing the leg work that many O/O's or LO's can't or won't do.....

OK, thanks! Plus an FYI, an approved outside carrier gets the same fuel discounts we do if they use the LS supplied ComData card.

That's one of the issues.Years ago at L/S our ''agents'' were ground pounding hard working people. They went door to door and established ''direct customers''.Therefore they called in us expert BCO's to handle the customer. We would get paid top dollar for this..That was then..

Today we have many dope smoking, lazy, useless alcoholics that were ex-kirby vacum salesman. These nit wits live off 7% and CH Load Boards. You can catch alot of these agents in there dining room at the trailer park with a laptop,an ashtray,a bottle of wild turkey and gay porn in the back ground.Forever taking loads from the CH Boards and putting this useless cheap stuff on the L/S boards..And they call themselves an ''AGENT''...:biggrin_2559:
Not to mention they call these CH Loads ''My Customer''...Disgusting what L/S Hires anymore as ''agents''...It is a long walk and many years finding agents with ''loyalty''

I have one LS agent I get my Denver Outbounds back to Cali with.....He's far from the codependent type you mentioned above....And as just about everyone knows...Getting Outbounds from Denver back to Cali are hard enough to get at decent rates in good times....Let alone the slow times....

He's been keeping me busy and the rates I get are a lot better than what average Outbound for FB from Denver is....

Is there anything to prevent a BCO from securing their own customers? In that case does the BCO then get the agent fee as well?

It is possible to be an agent as well as a BCO.

    Not at the same time.

How you get around that is the truck in his name.
    The agency in hers.

    Possible? yes.

Easy? Not from what I've heard.
