I bolded what I wanted to respond to in this post, but you are right. I'm a local driver, and I can say with all honesty that I got more and better rest when I was OTR than I've ever gotten in a local position. Most days are 12 hours (or more) long, then you commute to/from the house and add in the things you do at home like showering, having dinner, helping the wife, spending time with your kids, etc, and your lucky to get 4-6 hours of good sleep.
walmart is the best driving job i've ever had

Voyager1968 and drozzer69 Thank this. -
never once have i been told not to discuss our pay nor signed any binding agreement... lets just say i am on pace for six figures my first year...
and so you admit basing your opinion on second hand info...is it 100% perfect ? no but pretty #### close guys are not driving 200 miles to go to work for nothing or relocating for 1 year just to get in the door.... that should say enough by itself.
I will agree its not for everyone,if you dont want to make good money be treated awesome and drive good equipment with a steady schedule dont apply. I have my schedule printed out for the whole year. start and stop every day within a 1 to 2 hour window....
have a great Holiday my frienddrozzer69 Thanks this. -
Thanx! -
No one knows, because the drivers are sworn to secrecy. -

I don't know why nobody discusses the pay issue, and I was not asked not to. However I have a theory why it is not discussed in public forums. Walmart is NOT your typical 'trucking' company. It's an etiquette. They treat their drivers so well that they feel a sense of loyalty to Walmart. Just my theory mind you but I can tell you how I arrived at that theory: I was treated amazingly well as a CANDIDATE for employment, better than anyone ever treated me before. I fully expect comments to follow like 'yeah they treat you great so they get their hooks into you and screw you later' and the like, but if that were true, why do so many people want in and so few people leave? There are basically 4 types of people who bash Walmart and their drivers. They are:
1. Those who do not meet the qualifications, and rather than admit that their record is flawed and they have tickets and accidents they resort to bashing anyone who says anything good about Walmart or who wants to land the best job in the industry.
2. Those who got rejected, either never got called for an interview or didn't make it.
3. The Walmart haters, of which there are plenty (cuz let's not forget how evil it is to sell stuff for less causing the mom and pops to close up because their prices were much higher).
4. There are those who truly love where they are, and I respect that.
Like others have already said, the pay is amazing. Why else would anyone leave a M-F home every day job for a week away from home working weekends? If you really want to find out, apply, and if you get (and pass) an interview, the mystery will be revealed. Is not even worth knowing CPM or what they get for this or that, unless you want to work for them, in which case you'll apply and go through the process. And one last thing...CPM is just the tip of the iceberg.mike5511, grabberblue12 and drozzer69 Thank this. -
