Get well soon my friend , cant imagine that happening on the road. I Have had a couple of friends that have had the stones, its horrible. Just out of left field who would be another company to look into in your opinion? BY THE WAY WHY DO THEY KEEP HIRING EVERY MONDAY,KEEP YOUR EXISTING DRIVERS BUSY AND YOU KEEP HAPPY DRIVERS!! WOW WHAT A THOUGHT!!

JSBTRUCKER, I was approached by Sharkey. They offer weekends home (full 48 hours) and mostly TN, KY, MO, IA, IL and IN as their running area. I have no desire to leave Averitt for another regional job. I like what I have here I just want the miles to consistently be what they were last year.

SDM: Good point. .32 cpm newbies save the company money I am sure.

Finally got released from the doctor to return to work today. Since it's almost Friday I had my FM give me vacation days for today and tomorrow so I'll at least be able to cover my benefits for this week. I'll be back in the truck after a dental appointment on Monday morning. Getting the return paperwork done was a bugger. The doctor kept messing it up, but it's done now. I am feeling much better and a week off has done good things for my mental well being.

I did have a road test with a small local company but what they told me about miles and pay didn't add up. When I got that feeling like someone was trying to sell me a time share I said thanks but no thanks. At 53 my intuition serves me well. LOL

To a point I agree. I have talked with some buddies who drive for the cheap freight companies and they say their miles are down and their sitting time is up a bit right now also. I think freight has slowed down across the board.

Not true. The company I drive for has just under 400 trucks and our solo drivers are averaging 3200 to 3400 miles a week. We have a great freight base and actually have so much freight that we can't cover it all, and they have started brokering some of the freight out.
That same old it's the economy excuse is just some companies way of appeasing there drivers.

I am thrilled for you but that doesn't make my statement untrue. I have friends at Swift, Ozark, and other carriers. From what they have told me their miles are down also.
